i had my steering wheel locked to the left whilst flipping a b**** and just as i completed the turn (wheel still locked to the left) my right front wheel plowed into a 6" hole with water in it. i heard a loud a** clunk, as if the steering rack had just completely broke. drove away after yelling F*** that felt bad and got home 5 min later without notcing anything.

The next day i got in the car and now when i turn the wheel to the left only, it makes this noise...

my guess is i broke a ball joint? but it almost sounds like something is making contact with the brake shield thing and thats what is making that noise. like the thin metal is rubbing/flexing against something. Or is it the steering rack?

thanks

Jack it up and start shaking your wheel around. It should be pretty obvious once you get down there.

- Jack up the car
Grab the wheel at 9 and 3 O'clock and shake it. If that moves its a tie rod.
Grab the wheel at 12 and 6 O'clock and shake it. If that moves its a ball joint.

If your still at a loss, repeat the process while looking at the individual parts. See whats moving/loose and thats what you replace.

Good luck man. Should be an easy/cheap fix.
