I searched but apparently nobody has had this problem I just finished a 5 speed swap in my vert. Problem is that the clutch does not disengage completely. I adjusted the rod at the pedal all the way in barely touches. Still it drives like I'm riding the clutch. I bled the slave. I even removed it to see if the fork was binding or move foward but nothing. All new parts, can't figure it out. Any ideas? I also posted this on the 240sx technical forum but I figure more traffic here.

Maybe not enough pressure? Check for any leaks to the clutch slave. Also check the damper lines if you have one.

this may help zerothread/297361

No leaks. Straight line from master to slave. low pressure I would think I would have trouble engaging the clutch not releasing it. Like air in lines soft pedal not enough force to push out slave. Thats not the case slave travel looks fine. I'm starting to think it could be T.O. bearing maybe binding somehow. Anyway to check without removing transmission

Are you running the factory Nissan hard line from the master cylinder to the little block by the frame rail, and then a soft line from the block to the slave cylinder?

Or,

Are you running a long braided line directly from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder?

Braided steel lines DO expand, like rubber lines (just not as much) and over the length of the line it can add up to a lot. You really need to run the factory hard line to get a decent pedal feel.

If you are running the factory hard line, I would suspect something is installed improperly with the clutch assembly. Clutch disc around backward or something.

No, pedal effort is not an issue. I can literally take my foot off the clutch and gas pedal and the car will roll forard like am feathering the clutch. Also when I shift into 2nd the car will rev up like I'm still on the clutch even with my foot off the pedal. I found alot of info about pedal adjustment and slave cylinder leaking but thats not my problem.

thats weird... i have a braided line from the master to the slave and my pedal feels a million times better than my friends which has the hardline then just a small rubber line to the slave... hmmm

Im gonna put my money on the rod into the master not adjusted properly. When i swapped a 5.0 into my rx7 i had a similar problem, it wouldnt completely let the pressure off the clutch causing it to slip at high rpm's I had to adjust the rod out as far as it would go before comming off the pedal, you said you adjusted the rod all the way into the pedal? I also just had to do the same thing to my talon, but it wasnt slipping, just the engagement point was almost on the floor.

where did u get ur slave cyclindar at some time if its a cheap slave they tend to leak around where the piston pushes the rod but u real cant notice it cuz of the rubber boot and that will cause it not to fully let it out just a idea for u to try a differnt one cuz i had a problem like that

Odd, definitely don't drive it like that especially if you dont want to burn your clutch up.

You should definitely check the rod length on the master, also check the slave to make sure its moving the pivot fork all the way back to the full engagement position. I guess one way to check would be to pull the slave off. The fork should not move much if at all.

I've never heard about anyone having this issue.

Does it take a second to engage or does it not engage at all? Maybe your slave is holding pressure after you release? Maybe its just like a stuck brake caliper...
