i was just wondering if anybody has bin pulled over with a rb swap and what would happen if the cop makes u pop the hood. im just scared that if they would have the right to take the car away

I am glad to see you took my advice and started your own thread. I cant imagine that you would actually lose your car but then again I do not know the rules for California other than they are strict about EVERYTHING. For most of us, if we get pulled over, the cop will have no idea the engine has even be swapped, much less care if it has or hasnt.

As far as I heard from a guy that had a sr20 in his car and was caught and they took his car away and crushed it but I think he was racing so It all depends on why the cops pulls you over. I am not 100% sure if I am wrong please correct me because it is good to know the laws. Oh and the best place that you can found more about it go to DMV they will lets you know. CA suck. i hope you don't get caught

If you get pulled over and for X reason he asks you to pop your hood and he notices you have aftermarket parts on your engine, he will put a sticker on your ticket with a number to call the referee...

But they can't take your car unless, you don't have a DL..

When you take your car to the referee he will just tell you to take out the motor and install the original one, with all the emissions components..

If you want to avoid going to the referee, you will probably have to pay the ticket and a fee..

That's about it.

Is just like going to the smog check, but they check for more stuff, all vin numbers, emissions etc etc...

And yeah california sucks!

Thats easy don't get pulled over. Shiny Tips and exhaust systems are a dead give away, No front plate? gauges all over the place. Low riding with the weeds and driving like your some raced out freek will help you get pulled over fast. It usually it depends on the cop, he might be a *** and throw the book at you or just give you another ticket for something else you never know sucks tho.

I get a big smile on my face when all you guys that live in CA get your balls busted by the cops and state emissions standards. I don't think a cop would even know his a$$ from an RB25 if I popped the hood. The best advice is to be cooperative and brown-nose so he only writes you a ticket for whatever you were obviously caught doing that was against the state code.

Frankly, I don't think they even have the ability to search your car including under the hood unless you give them consent.

One word of advice , Check all your lights .....

I just got puled over for a blinking headlight , and then i got asked a bunch of questions. At first i thought i was gonna get asked to pop the hood , but turns out the cop was a nisan fan!!!

I asked him for the rules here in MIA . he said that they are not strict here, as long as your not wreckless driving and not causing havok. its cool . but this is miami so its probably irrelevant to your question..

thanks everybody. i did hear the same from ppl here. and yea my car looks really stock so i dont think i will have a problem the only thing on the outside of my car that is noticeable is my exhaust its a little loud. but its not side ways or anything it looks stock. its a rs-r exhaust so i think i will be fine and i mean im not a crazy reckless driver. but if someone would want to race me then i probably would but not for two long. ill just be careful. but thanks guys

Here is another tip.

You can get a sticker that says something like "Supporter of the San Marcos Police Department" and put it on your rear windshield or bumper..

That will do either one of two things:

A- The cop will be humbled by your support for his department and go a bit easy on you.

OR

B- The cop will know its total bullsh*t and a give you a stiffer penalty for being a brown-nose.

Do not give him probable cause... Without probable cause you can plead the 4th (meaning if he doesnt have a warrant or probable cause he can not search!)

CA law cops are more particular about that CARB bulls4it ... here in TX they really don't care.i suggest making your car more stealth, and the interior also, if they see a handful of crazy gauges blinking lights etc, they will probe your car. if you pulled over, turn off the engine. make some kind of lid for your guages, that you can close if they look inside your car.
