What companies have you been able to get insurance with. .geico was able to give me a quote but progressive said that I would have to wait 5 days before the versa was in their systems. I can not drive off the lot with out insurance, so what other companies are out there?

I went to Allstate the day after I got my car and it wasnt in their system anymore but I stayed there and made them add it, so Allstate should have a Nissan Versa in their system now. If not, just tell them its a subcompact car or w/e same category as the Sentra.

That's cheap as all get-out. How old are you, where do you live, and what's your driving record like?

My '93 S13 with liability only is just a tad cheaper than that, like $700/yr.

28. Seattle. Spotless for the last 8 years. (* Kermee pets his seven-year old V1 *)

You have to realize that all of my insurance (life, home, umbrella, earthquake) is from MetLife so it's heavily discounted. And this would be a second vehicle added to my existing policy for my Lexus 2IS. Nice thing is with the umbrella policy, which is a hair over $300/year, covers $1m over any other policy I have with MetLife meaning car + umbrella = $1.3m/1.1m coverage.

I have USAA. Initially the VIN wasn't coming up in their system, but she tried it again and worked fine.

Farmers Mutual - $690 / year The car wasn't in their system either, but the lady just added. She also told me that once their Corporate office put the rates out to all agents, that my rate may change (up or down).

LOL ~ They told me something about not having a symbol, so they guessed my figures going off a toyota matrix.... I still wound up paying about 395 a month because I just got my license back

I got insurance through Ameriprise (used to be American Express) offered through Costco. Have had them for several years - good service and no problems. Versa S - $230 for 6 months.

Pemco. They also didn't have it in their system, so right now it's at about $1000/year for 300k/100k full insurance, but mine is also a bit high because I have to carry an endorsement for using my car at work (I'm a field tech, and we don't use company vehicles).

Though something tells me that may go down pretty quickly.

Oh, I also don't have the luxury of carrying my homeowners' insurance an auto insurance with the same provider, since Pemco will not issue new policies on homes with knob and tube wiring.

I have insurance through Allstate. My wife and I are both on it. She only has one ticket and is 28. I am 23 and I have 1 or 2 tickets still on (been pulled over like 15 or 16 times but only like 4 tickets). For Gold coverage with Allstate (full vehicle replacement and one "free" accident every 3 years) and added medical coverage amounts

$152 a month for:06 Kia Spectre07 Nissan Versa

I stand corrected on my insurance limits. I thought they were 300k/100k, but it turns out it's actually 500k/250k.

Not that I want to encourage anyone to hit my car or anything.

I have Farmer's. Interestingly, the agent seemed to know about the car and entered in the system, but my insurance card still classifies it under misc vehicles! It has the car name and what not, but the model column shows miscellaneous!I pay around $70 a month! Damn that ticket!

Iowa Mutual and Tornado

I'm paying about 150/month for an 06 Quest and a 07 Versa so - like $1800/year. This is the first time in my life I've had two brand new vehicles to insure and the rates are killing me. Insurance companies have learned to check your credit and if it's not perfect - look out.

I called my agent back yesterday to see if she had a symbol for the vehicle yet. I found out I was being charged for a symbol 11 and the actual (now that it's in their system) is a 7. The rates should go down, but I don't know how much until she gets back in the office tomorrow. I'm demanding a refund for overpaid premium. It's rediculous what I'm getting charged.

The rates with this company aren't great either but I'm locked in becuase I have my homeowners insurance with them. They cut my homeowners premium in half when I switched, but it was on condition they get my cars too. I think I'm paying more now than I was with my jacked up homeowners policy. BUT I had different cars before so...

Insurance is a racket!!!

Country Insurance ... $142.00 per year. But you have to take into consideration ... I'm 44 years old, it's also my home owners policy, I have 5 vehicles total and I'm single. I guess they figure I can only drive so many at once so I can only crash them one at a time.

Work from home... sheesh.

Some of us have to drive 36,000 miles a year for work, thank you very much!

My rates listed above ($1800/yr) are because of 500k/250k insurance limits, 1 accident (wife', but she still has 3 safe driving points despite that), 2 cars, we're both 28, married, can't get homeowner's through the same company so no discount there, and a surcharge for a work endorsement.

Wheee!

OK... and just for experience with insurance companies after the fact, I have to praise Pemco for their professionalism, punctuality, communication, and efficiency.

The OTHER guy's insurance, AIG, is slow and disorganized, and people within their own company don't even talk to each other. I swear I've passed more messages from the adjuster to the claims rep and back than they've spoken to each other.
