Yes, I want to paint my silver SSR Integral A2's (silver is boring to me), two of them have some curb rash that i've already sanded smooth, all wheels are going to get another sanding, there will be a primer coat first, then the paint. At first I wanted to go glossy-black or flat black, but I don't like how black rims disappear into the wheel-wells/fades out too much. So then I thought the dark bronze on the Falken Hanabi's would probably be sweet. BTW, this will not be a rattle-can job, a paint gun will be used so if anyone knows any paint codes that would be great!

Here's my car (when i first got it, kinda old pic):

Here's a pic of the Falken Hanabi rim:

well since you have a red car, in my opinion you don't have many color choices for the rims. how about paint the lip red ( same shade as your car) and in the spokes black.

you are right, black rims are ugly because you cant see them / looks like steelies.

if i was you, i would strip the paint and polish them. second choice would be to paint them gold, but i wouldnt do that personally.

I think gold would look hot personally.

I think gold would be too bright/gaudy, that's why I picked the Falken Hanabi color, it's so dark that it doesn't stand out like brass knuckles, but bright enough not to disappear into the wheel well. As far as painting the lip, there's no lip to paint.

What color are your tires? There's my answer.Always been a fan of blacked out tires/wheels because I don't need anybody's attention and I don't care what others think about it.I want them light, perfectly round, easy to clean.[/Maybe a deep bronze like you posted. They seem to work on all cars.

As far as black goes, which is better? Glossy or flat? These rims were $450 for the set, so i have some people trying to tell me that they're too nice to do that to. Although IMO, having a flat black would be easy as hell to touch-up if it were to get nicked. The dark bronze was my first choice. It's what i wanted on my white car before it got killed. I think it will work well with red and it will be slightly different. As you though, i could care less what other people think about 'em. All that makes me happy is that they're 16's and they're light.

I like the stock tire with inside of spokes painted red. not sure if it would look good on red car. i sanded and polished my stock rims. i think silver is the best colour.

I ssy Bronze like the WRX wheels, not the bronze like mine..a brighter shade would be good with red...if not that then a lighter gunmetal shade

I have the falken hanabi's an I personally don't like the color unless it's really bright outside to make the rim shine. Maybe you can get different rims if that's an option. Try pandagarage.com

Sweet! I was hoping you would post in this thread and give me your opinion. I'll try to give you a pic today.

That's an impressive masking job you did on the stock alloys, although the SSR's really don't have a definable edge that i could do that, and i'd rather paint them all the way.

Not an option---it was hard as hell finding these rims, and they're all perfectly round (for used rims that's a major plus). Plus they were a good deal.

I'm going to a auto paint store today so hopefully they have some swatches for me to look at. I don't know if I want such a bright shade. I really like the shade on your car!

On red cars I like a bronze or a copper colour, and I also think chrome looks really good with red. The wheels that I might get are polished crome and then a brushed chrome on the sides (sort of like that guy's red, blue and black, but brushed). It's a 5 double spoked rim and I think they're sexay

for aluminum stock rims, is it better to sand polish them or to paint them. heck of a lot of work entailed in sanding and polishing.

Geesh, you should hear people when I start talking about having the centers on my wheels painted/powdercoated then. Tell them to quite their whining. Especially if you're having it done professionaly.

I agree with whoever said the red doesn't have as many options... at least not options that look good. Personally I prefer polished aluminum on red cars but that's just me. Black has the definate plus of hiding brake dust. I'm 50/50 on the glossy or flat though. If I was going to coat my centers I'd use glossy. For your application where the entire rim is getting painted... I think I'd still go glossy. If you're worried about them looking inset you could run some whitewall tires like some of the classics do. They're red sometimes.... A professional painter may be able to mask off better than you think. So sit down and have a nice long talk with whoever you get to do this.

What color is/will be your interior? Matching exterior accents (like wheels) and the main interior color is sexy.

I agree, the bronze i wanted is closer to black, or more like black with a 'bronze sheen'. We'll see how it turns out, i'll do some test sprays on my bf's z32 clip I only bought two cans anyhow, so i can always return one of them.
