I am 99% sure I will be pulling my motor out either this friday morning or for sure this weekend.

After that I am planning on stripping the engine bay to bare necessities.

Just wondering should I just clean it all out and leave it the factory color or should I coat the bottom from rails down with black undercoating and then high gloss coat the rest. The car is burgundy red.

Also what color should I get my valve covers powdercoated. I want something crazy. I plan on painting the iron block something crazy as well, just so the motor stands out in the sea of black.

Maybe camo green or a type of green for block and valve covers. what do you think?

Hmmm. Gloss white ot gloss black for the bay would set off any colors you do for the rest of the motor well.

I have a white car, so that is my fav. As for valve covers, I just painted mine pink, and if I were to paint my block, it would be gloss black. My timing covers just got a shot of matte black, and my manifold heat shield is drying as we speak with a fresh coat of gloss black (Duplicolor engine paint with ceramic, ftw!).

Keep it simple, and that will look the best.

Dude..I love camo. I would not paint the block or engine bay camo though. It'd be interesting to see the valve covers in that white/grey camo though. Or just a solid pearl white. I love white valve covers.

I would just stick with black or silver for the block, and for the engine bay, if you're feeling crazy, maybe laguna seca blue. A guy from my hometown did this to his s13. Came out looking pretty nice. Here's a pic

do the engine bay battleship gray. if you do it black you won't be able to tell if anything is leaking (which I guess might be a good thing, lol)
