Why would you paint a brand new car?

Repaints suck. Especially color-change repaints. Basically, you'll ruin it unless you spend more than the car is worth.

If you want a good repaint job, you're going to need to spend a MINIMUM of $2500.. and for that, you probably WON'T get your engine bay or door jams re-painted. You're talking upwards of $5k to get a full, high-quality repaint.

If you need a little something to break up the monotony, get some racing stripes or vinyl graphics or something. You'll probably take a lot of flak for it, but at least you'll still have money in your pockets when all is said and done.

Custom vinyl graphics will make a huge difference. If you want to really be different, get the car wrapped in vinyl. Try to avoid the generic vinyl though...

If you really want a repaint, have the entire car done at a professional paint shop that specializes in custom work. Pick out something no one else has, but be prepared to drop major cash.

Do you have a budget to work with? If you do I can assist you in finding a local paint shop and go over the finer qualities of picking a good paint.

A custom paint job is stupid expensive. You might lose less money selling your car and buying a new versa in a different color and you would likely get a better paint job as well.

If you don't like black on black get some new seats.

really, might be better off to redo the interior upholstery. if you're tinted, the car might not look like anything special, but when you drop the windows or open the door and you have a (tasteful) custom interior, that's pretty bad a$$.

my B15 sentra ('04 1.8s) is pretty stock, but its very likely the only one here (on oahu), and possibly the only one in my state (HI) with a leather interior.

to me, that's something that really sets a car apart from others. "nah, you can't even get it like this from the factory / in this country"

If you want to destroy your new car, I've always thought the Versa would look great in a two-tone paint job. Leave the top of the car black, but paint the doors silver from the second body crease from the top to the bottom of the doors, following this line, also get the sides of the fenders and quarter panels, and the rear bumper (leaving the hatch silver) and leave the rocker panels black. Then, do a red pin-stripe where the two colors meet.

I'll paint it for you for $100. I have some left over paint from painting the laundry room and a brand new roller. Do you like yellow?

Seriously, I agree with the above comments. Why would you paint a brand new car? Why did you get black in the first place if you don't like it? When you buy a new car, unless you plan on selling in a year, then it is a long term investment. Don't buy a color and change your mind a few months later.

But think about the yellow.

Laugh hard. I know a guy who actually did that! He was almost busted for something, got away, drove to his house and immediately slapped on a few coats of gloss white exterior house paint. He drove that truck for almost 7 years like that.

Very good point here.Repainting a new car will hurt it's resale value. If you plan on selling the car in the next few years, I wouldn't recommend repainting.

Stop me if I'm wrong, but isn't Fox RACING about dirtbikes/moto-x type stuff, not automotive?

This is also not to be confused with Fox MARKETING, which had a turbocharged Versa... it was a one-off turbo made by ZPI before the company was sold (and no longer makes a Versa Turbo)

I think you are right. I knew that Fox sounded familiar but I didn't know why.

Does anybody know how to use a spellcheck anymore?

Jesus Christ, people, if you're going to post something, PLEASE make sure that it doesn't look like it was done by a preteen dyslexic kid with a bad case of Parkinson's

BUT, to answer your question, you should totally pour copper nitrate and hydrochloric acid on that baby.. can anybody say interesting rust bucket?

OH, and he said he had a Fox STICKER. It's totally for the performance reflectors he put on... each one adds 5 horsepower!

It's your car. If you don't have your own idea driving you on and constantly popping into your head leave the car alone.

This has got to be a joke.

Plus, the 20%-tent/Aztek reference was pure gold.

OK... corrected so it makes my brain bleed a little less.

Seriously, Lexi. There is no excuse for not using proper spelling and punctuation. And it's a serious pet peeve when people use "u" instead of "you". This is the internet, you don't have a character limit on what you're putting in. Make the effort, and we may actually answer your question as opposed to spending ways to pick apart your message.

My next question is this: Why are you asking US (bunch of old men, Kimber excepted) what color YOU should paint YOUR car? Isn't that kind of a personal preference?

EV, thnk u fer the spelling cerrecshuns it maks it much EZer 2 read. its a pet peave of mine 2

I agree with you. I don't understand why lexi would ask a colour opinion from people she doesn't even know. The colour of ANYTHING is pretty much a personal choice. And I won't even comment on the stupidity of a father who will pay to repaint his child's brand new car because she doesn't like the colour anymore. How do kids learn the value of anything and the consequences of decisions.

I think the car should be stripped down to the metal, polished up and then anodized red.

That would look sweet.
