Mine is kinda scratched up, and I want to repaint it red. Anyone find a color of engine paint that is close to the stock red? If not, any suggestions on a color choice?

I have some Dupli-Color engine enamel, Chrysler Industrial Red. Pretty nice color, brighter than the stock CA18 color.

There is so little metal there, I'd just take them down to metal and either repaint them or get them powdercoated. Powdercoating isn't too expensive actually.

do them orange! if I hadn't done mine green I'd either do orange or maybe dark blue again. Who wants stock valve covers? Its what makes your car unique!:) If you insist on doing red, find a bright red, and make sure you do the cam cover too... I think they look soo much better with the cam covers painted.

Paint it to match your car, and your brake calipers(if you have those painted).

No need for body kits... A clean, matching car is the best looking IMO.

Painting stock calipers is for ricers IMHO. And my car is white. White valve covers is for ricers too. I may do a dark blue, but the Chrysler Industrial Red looks good.

Well mine were far from just needing a light polish, we went through 4 sanding stages to get out all the deep scratches and i finaly said screw it because the polishing isnt coming out well anymore. Its all nice and shiny but im eating some dremel bits up because i have no other way to polish it unless you can gives me some ideas.

oh, mine didnt have any scratches or chips.

i just stripped the paint, lightly sanded them with different grits by hand, then hand polished them.

hand polished.. with like a terry cloth towel and polish? because this is really not working out for me. Straight chrome looking shine from one angle, **** from the other

yeah, white's one of those colors I'd stay away from... too easy to get dirty (especially for brake calipers  ) I like the look of shiny black brake calipers myself, but other than that, I wouldn't do it...

I think black would look nice on a white car, or any sort of dark color. Maybe that gunmetal/bronze they did the Nur Spec R34 Skyline valve covers... I'll find a picture of it for ya:)

I do like that, but I don't want to try to make my motor look like another one (like guys w/ KAs painting their valve covers red). I have seen yellow, and even though yellow is the #2 rice color (behind red) I kinda dig it. I really like your green one Sean. Mind if I copy you;)
