The main reason I got an ACT, all of 300 miles ago, was that they were the only company I could find that offered solid "race" discs. Street discs are two-piece affairs with a rotating hub and some springs to soak up the shock if you shift rough - the 6-puck race disc is just a piece of steel with a splined hub and six metallic pads. Check the ACT site for pics. It doesnt sound like much of a difference, especially if youve played with a street pad and see how tight the springs are, but its really noticeable when you get it in, the throttle response becomes almost telepathic - literally the tiniest perceptible movement of my foot blips the tach. Oh, and the ACT race discs use 100% sintered copper-ceramic pads, which I know no street discs use (semi-metallic was the best I could find) - they can soak up and dissipate something like 4x the heat of organic full-circle discs, but grab a LOT sharper. Pedal feel with the Heavy-Duty pressure plate (weakest of the 3) is a little harder, but not really stiffer or more difficult, just firmer and crisper. Like I said before, its a very harsh clutch (disc) that has the potential to break things in the drivetrain if you dont know what youre doing, but when you hit a shift right...oh man...
