Before I go out and guess on which cleaning products I should or shouldn't use, I would like to know what you guys have had good luck with.

Need to know about these cleaning products:

-Car wash solutions?

-Interior cleaners (Leather conditioning products & plastic cleaners)?

-Waxes?

-Glass cleaners?

I purchased the Turtle wax car wash called Ice. It looked promising. I was debating the Power Ball and the mini Power Ball from Mothers. I've seen the info commercials and it seemed like a good product. Feedback? If not, what is a good normal wax to use?

I purchased the Black magic tire shine. Any luck with other tire shines that doesn't sling off of the tire?

I seem like a noob, but I think I want to start doing my own personal detailing now. All of my previous vehicles have all been done at local car washes and detailing centers. After seeing what the drive in part does to your cars paint, I don't want any part of it anymore.

All opinions welcome!

Thanks.

J

I will also post more later, but I should mention that we have a detailing forum (as I recall), where you might get some good advice too.

Here is the link: zeroforum?id=267.

I have had some experience with the 303 products and they seem to be pretty good.

I'm going to go for the Zaino Bros. products. I have seen a few Gs and Corvettes done using their products and they are brilliant. I like either clear wax (not spray) and nothing that leaves residue in crevices. That is one of the benefits of these products, plus the more layers you apply the better it looks.

Plus a complete kit is <$120 for a years worth of product.

I use this stuff on my toy and I love it. Best shine ever and it last longer than the store bought stuff.

The price is surprisingly reasonable too given the products and support you receive.....

I cannot wait till spring.

Steve, your link does not work. Can you fix it?

I was really hoping for some product recommendations that I could pick up locally to do a quick interior clean-up. I will definitely order some of that Zaino stuff!

You must be talking about this package I assume: http://www.zainostore.com/Merc...KIT-2

Does it state the size of those products? It doesn't look like you get a lot of product, just a lot of different small product bottles.

I feel like I should say that this product is not for the faint of heart. This take hours of repetitive work to get a shine like this. Average initial application can take up to and in excess of 8 hours. Depending on the condition of your finish and whatever chemicals may already be on there. The wash with Dawn and clay baring will remove just about anything on there. The directions with these product and the products themselves have very specific instructions that must be followed. From all the people I have met both in RL and on the interwebs that use these products all say the same thing. Do your research and read the directions before purchasing anything. I would hate to see you not find something that fits your needs. I have lofty dreams and would like to try one of every product as I have both silver and black cars. The glass polish jumps out as a product that has a huge potential to improve overall visibility and appearance.

All the products in the kit you were looking at vary in size but an informal survey of users suggests they last about 1 year (depending on your color).

~EDIT the above thing was a pic that I failed at previewing

Ditto on the Zaino Steve. The stuff looks amazing if it is applied properly but it is a biatch to apply with all the steps you have to go through and if you don't properly prepare the car's surface so that it is absolutely clean every little defect is amplified. Also if your car has paint blemishes, chips or any swirl or scratches they will also show much more if you use this product. You need to fix them first. I used it on a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado that I restored. It was pretty much just a show car. I used to take Advil for days after I was done applying it LOL. It really gives you a workout. Personally with a daily driver I'd rather just use a conventional wax and wax it more frequently.

The product sounded good......until the last two posts........ Nightwatch says you have to repair swirls prior to using their products, well then why does the kit come with a swirl and scratch polish? I would have thought their product would have came with a step that addressed this issue.

Basically the product seems like something for a show car, not an everyday driver. I will definitely get their leather products.

Does anyone else recommend a high quality wax that doesn't take almost two days to apply??I'm sure not all of you own and use just Zaino products.

I'm probably going to sound like I'm slumming it, but I just use Black Magic Wet Shine liquid wax. It goes on and comes off pretty easily for a liquid wax. It has no abrasives at all, it gives a very nice shine that lasts a couple months of washing the car every week. It does a good job of protecting the finish from road grime and tree sap, bug splat (except love bugs) and bird doo doo come off easily. For what its worth, Consumer Reports also rated it number 1. (and it only costs 8 bucks!)

I use Zaino Leather in Bottle on everything inside (leather, plastic, wood, my hands-love the lasting leather smell...) and http://www.rejex.com/rejex.html Rejex on everything else (glass, paint, metal) outside. But then again I don't spend my excess $$$ and hours and hours laboriously caressing my machine as so many appear to just love doing...

You would be the one to find a product called Rejex wouldn't you! I wouldn't know if your being serious or joking about the product!
