My 1996 Q45 needs a hood badly. I was filling up the brake fluid and failed to close the hood tightly. The story ends with my hood flying up in my face and my passenger thinking we had died and gone to hell. We lived and my front wind shield survived without a crack. But now I need a new hood. I live in Branson Mo and its almost impossible to find a used or new hood. The junkyard mech said that type of hood was only on the 94-96 model. Any chance someone has a spare hood? Or can I use one from an older or newer model?

94-96 only. check car-part.com for local used parts as shipping hoods is generally a bad idea.

Junkyard mechanic is right: '94-'96 Hood will only fit '94-'96. You'll have to find a '90-'93 hood.

The reason it won't fit is the changes in headlights and grille on the later models. But even if it did fit, the "bulge" is wider on the '94-'96 hood, so it wouldn't look right.

From a quick search on http://www.car-part.con, you're right... not much near you. Looks like you will either need to pony up some $$$ for shipping, or take a day trip of about 400 miles round trip to buy your replacement.

One word of advice... I would call and make absolutely sure the place you're going to go to get your part still has it. And mention how far you're driving to get it. I have made more than one trip to a distant yard to get "oh... you wanted that one? We crushed that car about 3 months ago"

Thanks everyone for the info. As it turns out I'm headed to St. Louis this tuesday. I'll be able to pick up the hood..but like you said, I'll call first to confrim the parts. I'll post a pic of mu Q when its done. You may want to see the hho generator in the trunk. It boosts my mpg from 16 city and 20 highway to 20 city and 25 highway. Its a 6 cell generator and I'll have more pics when I get the hood.
