I want to buy a OEM CD Changer to put in my 94 Q. I see them on ebay as a 10 disc sony and then there's a six disc sony. Does anyone know exactly which ones simply plug into the 94 Q45's standard harness and can be controled from the OEM in dash head unit?

The trick is to get the correct model number with the proprietary piggy-back control unit that interfaces with the Clarion head unit.

Part No.: 28184 68U01

Model No.: CDX-5NG54G

You will need the mounting rails and the cover and clips for an OEM installation.

Wasn't there also a Sony? Jeff W & AZ have gone through several different ones, so one of those gents should have a model number.

I went late model Nis/Inf Bose In-Dash .

The numbers I posted were for the Sony OEM in my t model.

There was a six CD Alpine(?) that hung under the rear parcel tray that was a dealer add-on.

My mistake, I saw "Clarion" and thought you were referring to that model. There's a Clarion 6 disc unit, that Wes loves. I'm sure he'll chime in after school .

Clarion made the "Bose" head unit for the G50.

Your thinking clarion, and they put it in the same place that they put the factory changer, with a special cover made for it....

The only other non-OEM non-Sony players I have seen are mounted under the parcel shelf as opposed to the passenger corner of the trunk floor with the OEM brackets and cover.

Thats odd, because I know that mine was down there and had a specific bracket for it. Also i know a couple of other members here than have the same thing.....

I guess since it was a dealer installed option, it varied..

I have a 6 disc changer for your Q. I had it in my Q for about a month then went with an MP3 head unit.$75 + shipping

No it isn't FM modulated. It plugs directly into the factory harness in your trunk. If you don't have the factory harness in your trunk then it also comes with the harness that plugs into your OEM head unit & runs back to your trunk. This changer works with the stereo controls of the factory Bose unit. Don't have the factory Bose head unit? I have that also. Cheap & in perfect working order. I upgraded to an MP3/CD player head unit.

Hmmm. Not seeing the mounting rails nor brackets for the OEM trunk mount.

The rubber hangers in the OEM Sony changer are mass tuned and directional so that they suspend the unit in its case when mounted vertically. They would not work in a horizontal installation. Probably why aftermarket installations goes for the under parcel shelf mounts.

Sometimes my new Tokico blues will upset my CD player on a harsh impact.
