When I put my 1993 Q45 with 115,000 miles in gear it goes down in D,1,2,3 or in reverse the rear goes up.

But what causes that because slowly the rear end doesnt go as far down or I can't feel the rear end drop that much any more any one know why?

Does this have anything to do with the diferntial bushings?

I am not sure what you are describing. When did you last replace your shock absorbers?

could be shocks, but to some extent this is normal. reaction torque.just like a piston single wishes to yaw left when you pitch up.

Is your engine idling at about 750 rpm? If it's much higher you'll feel it wanting to lurch forward and the rear end will rise when shifting to Drive. Ditto for shifting into Reverse.

Ok I bought the car off of gloucester Q: zer...=3203 and he put on tokico blues all around in 2005 so they should still be good I would think. The car also Idles around 650 RPM's maybe 500 RPM's I will look closely to be sure.

Obviously you have never owned a RWD with IRS before. All react the same, with rear hunker down when first placed in drive.

650 rpm at idle is correct.

IRS = independent rear suspension with 2 half shafts as opposed to the old solid rear axle type of many US designed RWD cars and trucks.

Just to add to this topic I was wondering why is it that when the Q goes into 3rd gear the Differential drops more or there is more of a shock than when going into drive?

Also Wes if you see this I asked you why and if there is more power in 3rd rather than D did you mean because of over drive eating some torque and HP or did you mean something else?

Its called torque.

A friend of mine used to hate my car because its OLD... wondered why someone would even want a Q45 nowadays. always always hated always.

So one night we were drinking, I was slightly buzzed and he was drunk so I decided to let him drive, hehe.

He didn't even start the car... jaw dropped & just intrigued by simply sitting in the drivers seat.

Then he put it in D... as the rear popped down... he was like "WOW, that means you have torque"

Never shiza'd bout my car again.

So your saying the 3rd gear has more torque off the line than 4th despite the fact that the car starts in 1st gear?

Actually... once its in Drive it doesn't go any lower for me no matter what gear your in. Goes higher in Reverse. Takes about 5 seconds to go into Drive on a cold mornings start (94 only)

Although when I'm in rush hour traffic... If I'm stopped and I leave it in 3rd gear I will see much more smoke (leaking VC) than in DRIVE.

The 93 Q doesn't do this.

OK try this go to your can start it up let it warm up, then Put it in drive notice that it does make a large difference then put it in 3rd by skipping drive all together (from park just put it into third and skip D).

If you you wouldn't mind so you can better understand me.

But I mean basically that the car drops lower or just drops harsher in 3rd rather than D.

Since the car doesn't go into Drive on cold starts, going to 3rd before Drive is what I'm used to, even on warm starts.

Rear end does not plop up at all when I put it in Drive from 3rd. Or any forward gears.

Hope that answers your questions. If it were to make a difference I would have definitely noticed before I replaced my shocks 1 month ago.

Oh yea my car idles just a hair above 500RPM. On cold starts, if you let go of the brakes it will hit 5+mph quickly
