you mean the bottom of the board? i know it's too late, but you didn't even need to touch that. pull off the old cap and solder the new one to the existing pads. you can't solder through the board like you normaly would with a radial lead cap.project240.info wrote:Well my board was laminated and I made a mess of the parts now my HUD is totally messed.
Oh well. I tried really hard. If anyone has a hud or an digital module please let me know.
no problem, too be fair though the wirte up isn't my work, i'm just hosting it since the original site is down.i'm glad you got your hud working again, mine was dead for only a few months before i couldn't take it anymore.Bronze wrote:On a side note, icex01x, thank you so much for writing up this guide and to all who troubleshot this unit and posted information. Without you guys, I would've gone on without a working HUD, dash lights, odometer and cruise control. It's been this way for 6 years. Now, everything is operational and I feel a renewed interest in my car. Props to NICO and all the help received via their forum.
I have the same problem. I found a place that sells the boards alone for around $50. They told me it plugs into the cluster. It is called the 'printed circuit board'. Here is the URL for the 1993 board. https://www.1stnissanparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html I was told this would fix the problem.project240.info wrote:I know, the top was laminiated and I couldn't strip the cap off properly. The legs that were left from the ripped off cap did not accept solder no matter what. I then proceded to strip the base of the old cap which was laminated or laquered in and I made a meess of things.
This is really unfortunate as I had big hopes of getting this going. Now I'm thinking an anlog cluster would work just fine. I'm not going to change my dash just in case a HUD comes my way some time in the future.
Thanks all for your help. If you know of an inexpensive DOHC HUD for sale please let me know.
Sorry, The URL will only take you to the website where you will have to do a search for your specific car. After you enter your car year, make and model there is a box on the right side of the screen where you cna do a search for the part. Enter circuit or circuit board and it will bring up the options for analog and digital boards.1989coupe wrote:
