My girlfriend owns a 1993 mustang LX and it's a 4 banger....so slow. My 240 is stock and it can eat most of the typical ricer Honda cars, a variety of v6 mustangs, some camaros, mostly other v6 and i4's that are close to stock. but then mine's a ka24de too. i raced almost new z24 (not z28 :-P woops) on the interstate and he bowed a lil over 100. it was pretty nice, too (body kit, neat exhaust....dun know what else)

Good luck trying to beat the Z24. Assuming that it is a standard or has an ATI on an auto transmission, he will eat you for luch if he can drive. My other car is a Z24 and it was faster than my stock '90 240 from a stop when I had the ATI on it.

But now the transmission is dead and the Cav hasn't moved in over a month :(

i think the z24 and i are gonna be pretty darn close. its a standard, but they have only 4 or five more hp than us, and its a front wheel drive. i have a limited slip diff, so im ill get the holeshot on him. (by the way, its a newer 2.4L z24, not the older 3.1L V6, fr other friend has one of those, and its faster)

I think the Z24 is probably faster. Even if it is the 2.4L ecotec motor. It'll be close though.

Oh, and there were some turbocharged I-4 mustangs too. Kinda cool, but only cuz it's different.

1991 S13 fastback, 1993 engine (dunno why...b4 i had it)....no real mods...just 360 degree filter and 300zx fuel pump...backseat gone (it's a joke anyway)...pretty much it....but it tends to rape a lot of the cars in this town

my bro has a caviler with the z24 motor in it. its an auto, watch out for them, they are very quick, but as long as you can drive, I think you will have an edge.

Isnt the z24 lighter with just about the same horsepower?? The z might give you a good run.

LOL!!!!!! You guys are nuts! But then again I wouldn't expect you to know much about J-Bodies...

I on the other hand, do know a lot about J bodies and I would just like to point out a few little things...

Scuba: The 2.4TC in the Z24 is rated at 150hp and 155tq, I have seen bone stock Z24's dyno at 137 to the ground. The 3.1v6 is not faster in the older Z24's because those cars were much heavier. A 3rd gen Z24 is faster than the 2nd gen Z24 by like 3/4 of a second.

EZ Cheese: The Ecotec is a 2.2TC, not a 2.4 ;)

Former_240_S14: They don't make a Z24 engine, just the 2.4TC that is also in alero's and other crap cars. There have been a number of different engines in the Z24 so there is no specific one.

Syka24et: Exactly, it is a lighter car with more horsepower and if the guy in the Z24 can drive, he will win.

Peace out yall :)

Yeah, somewhere deep down in my head, I actually knew that. But you are right about the first comment, atleast for me, I don't know a much about them, I admit it.

Yeah, actually I made a comment about that in another thread somewhere. Some guy posted that he didn't think Ford made a 4 cylinder mustang.

are you sure he was trying? cuz with mods you should be no more than side by side with him unless the autos add about 1.5 sec on the 1/4 for them.

ford autos suck. they add more than a mere 1.5 sec on 0-60 or 1/4 times.

a cav z24 vs an s13 would be close. it would be more a case of driver skill.

the ecotecs are better engines than the old 2.4TCs but in terms of acceleration they are about even. the ecotec is lighter, has better gearing(they went with a shorter geared transmission on the ecotec cars), and revs higher but gives up 10 hp on the 2.4

the 60 degree v6 (the 2.8 and 3.1 that were used in the older cars) is pretty tame stock but can be taken over 200hp easily.

BTW i do know the 60 degree GM v6s quite well

yes, a Z24 with a good driver can reach down to the mid to low 15's

Best I can get out of my ka24e is a 16.5
