Well my Megan racing tubular mani is causing my coupling to melt and creating boost leaks. I have tried moving the turbo over, heat wrap, heat tape but sooner or later it melts. In Megan Racing's defense it wasn't there product that failed it was the alignment shop not looking out for my exhuast when the lifted it up. I'm thinking about just using my log manifold.

What can exspect in power lose if any? I run at 13 psi and I have Tomei 272 degree cams with 3" outlet pipe and 3" exhuast.

is it a multi layer silicone coupler or no? those are the only ones that can withstand exhaust heat.

This requires a little more of an explanation, because if the alignment shop caused the issue that you are having by bending the manifold, they owe you a new manifold.

Well I had it aligned when the car was not running right so after it was aligned it sat for about 5 months. I noticed the lift pushed my exhuast up a little bit. I didn't think any thing of it until I got the car running 3 months afterwards when I went to the track and got a boost leak due to that coupling melting. Plus this was a little mom and pop alignment shop. There is no way they are going to reimburse me. I never ran the car with the log mani. I'm the only person in my area with a running SR20ed 240sx so I don't have any one I can compare performance with. I plan on using the T25 for awhile but would like to upgrade some day. Here is what I'm adding to my pretty much stock SR20:

Tomei 270 cams
Rocker arm stoppers
650cc injectors
log manifold or repair MEgan tubi mani
Z32 MAF
Tuned ECU

Hmm.... after 5 months there is little you can do for reimbursement from the shop anyways, but little hole in the wall shop or big national chain, it doesn't matter if they are responsible for any damage to your vehicle they have the responsibility to repair it.

What are your power goals with the car? Do you want super responsive or would you be fine with a little lag? Give me some details and I'll do my best to steer you in the right direction.

You'll get a slightly quicker spool with the log manifold, and at higher rpm you'll encounter some flow restriction. At 16 psi however the t2 flange itself is causing a restriction, so you shouldn't expect any large difference.

Go speak to the alignment shop, if you have a receipt and proof of where their lift touched your exhaust they might do something. Also check your exhaust studs. Hopefully they didn't bend as well.

can we get pics? the damage may not be that bad...

you can probably repair it.

Log manifolds are great... they're not as sucky as people think.

as long as the material is thick enough (assuming thats what vocational is saying)... and your cooling system works... and ventilation is good throughout the engine bay.

Maybe I am just blanking right now, but what coupling are you talking about? The only couplings I can think of around that area are for the hotpipe, and even then it doesn't really make sense that you could melt that one.

Also, 272s on a t25 is hilarious unless you plan to run a bigger turbo in the future.

That is the reason I asked what his eventual power goals were, 270 cams with any turbo smaller than the larger gt30's is pointless.

I wanting to be around 300 hp with quick response. I got the cams for free so I thought I should use them. I realize they are bit much but I eventually plan on getting a bigger turbo next year. My plan was to tune the car for 20 psi and just run 13 psi for now with my dinky T25. I was just kind of wondering what to exspect. I have a lot stuff I jsut want to get on the car instead of taking of space in my room. I am also adding a Z32 maf and 650cc low impedence injectors.

Your dinky T25 will be worthless past 15 psi.

I'd use an OEM exhaust manifold over a cheap aftermarket manifold any day of the week. I'd use a high quality Full Race manifold or the like, those are actually engineered. Megan and other cheap manifold are simply copied.

Keep it simple, keep it OEM.

Ya I know the limits of the T25. I'm only going to push 13psi. I'm learning that some OEM stuff is really good. This is my first SR20 build so I appreciate all the feed back from people with experience.

T28 looked like it was fun. I plan on trying to run a Super 60 on my log manifold on my KAe.

This is Off of NICO for like $120 or so.
