Hey guys I've been on here for a while and bought a couple of things from various people. However I have a 92 s13 that Im working on the body right now repainting and also fixing dents. However I need advice or directions on how I could increase horsepower for not alot of money or nothing at all. My motor has 194,000 but Im saving money for a new SR motor, and am strapped financially because of body work and installing new coilovers etc. etc. etc. So feel free to post or even let me know about parts that you have lying around that I could afford to buy.

Thanks

The best thing you can do is SEARCH. If you haven't found it yet, it's the red button in the upper right corner of the window. Also, browse the forums and you will answer your own question.

If you are saving for an SR, don't spend money on the KA. Then down the line when you have the money for the swap, the money you spent on the KA will be wasted.

Thats why I was looking for simple cheap mods just to goof off a little. Possibly like a intake and changing downpipe and exhaust and maybe the cams. But Im not exactly sure how much that would cost and also how much extra horse I would get. Thanks for the input, and yeah I do know about the Search button. I just wanted some input on wheather or not I should do those things since the exhaust is going to be changed anyhow and I will need an intake and extra parts on the next motor. Thats why I was asking. I am aware that I wiil need alot of things in the future but in the present I was thinking of parts that are cheap and could also go on the next motor while still giving me some enjoyment now.

If you get exhaust now, get 3". Good gains on an NA KA, and you can use it with a turbo.

Intake you buy for your KA isn't going to work with an SR. Get a good cone filter (like a Pop Charger) to replace your airbox, then you can use that good filter on your SR intake. If you want the cool metal tube and all, or want a CAI, buy a cheapy off ebay and use the good filter on it. Even cheaper - go to Home Depot and make your own out of PVC pipe.

Your best cam choice would probably be going with the S13 exhaust cam on the intake side. Cheaper than spending upwards of $500 on a set for your KA.

Of course you could spend money on other mods - more suspension parts, clutch, lightened flywheel, LSD, bigger brakes, etc etc.

You will be able to use the same catback, but of course the header will be replaced with the turbo manifold, and the downpipe will run from the turbo to the cat.

A KA intake runs from the throttle body across the front of the engine bay, but the intake on your turbo is just going to come straight off the turbo on the exhaust side of the engine and go right behind the driver side headlight. The cold pipe from your intercooler is what will run to the throttle body. Compare a picture of an SR to one of a KA and you will see what I mean.

I don't know if KA and SR pulleys are interchangeable, but even if they aren't a set of pulleys isn't going to break the bank.

Another thing - start working on weight reduction. Get rid of your back seat, spare tire, jack, and all the unnecessary stuff. Im assuming its a daily driver so you might not ditch the door panels and all that, but maybe you wouldn't mind. I think it's something like 10 pounds of rotational mass (pulleys, flywheel, clutch, driveshaft, etc) is like removing 40 lbs of dead weight...

Yeah Ive already go the entire bakcend to just metal and the carpeting is also out. The only thing that I still have in it are the door panels and dash and seats. What kind of cheap pulleys would you recommend?. And oh yeah thanks for all the advice so far.
