what's up, I've been drifting for about a month now, and my steering feels a little strange. it wants to follow every curve in the road if I let it, but on a straight, flat road it will go straight. I also hear a clunk sometimes when I brake at slow speeds.

It got me to wondering what parts can break, without running into curbs? drifing on a semi flat surface on stock suspension? I am looking to replace some stuff, cheaper than just getting bushings put in, like pdm racing control arms w/bushings pressed in already, tien tie rods/ends.

well, i dont know what model you have, mine 1990 240...i put a thread "Weird sound in front suspension", you can read it or... check...sway bar end links... end tie rods (R&P)... tension rods...and check all the nuts that are tighten well...

and chek the bushings in your rack and pinion, if you move you drivig wheel (while you are stop) and you have some movement right to left, and and tires dont move maybe is this bushings...

good luck...

check the outer tie rod ends for excessive play, is the steering alittle lose/follows its own path? this may be the problem.

check inner tie rods, one may be bent

make sure the power steering fluid is OK, it might be getting thin and well... that makes steering alittle more unpredictable and hard to turn.

My rear control arms broke already also. You are on the right path with the stuff you listed.

thanks, that's a little more specific. I'll check those out. watch it be something as silly as power steering fluid... but as for the noise up front, I'll have to check.

if you were planning on getting an alignment, they will usually shake down the front end and generally check everything out to make sure nothing would make an alignment pointless. how do your tires look, tread/pressure?

with all of the extra lateral force acting on the car, can this change the position of some parts, maybe throwing the camber off? alignment and tires is probably the best improvement u can make to a suspension setup, second being coils/dampers.

true, I want to find out if anything's broken, if it is, replace it with something better, but I don't want to spend money beating around the issue if I don't have too...

that leads to: where do I take it? dealership or somewhere else? the dealership is expensive, but they should know the car better, and I don't really have to get into seedy car repair joints...

I've never delt with suspension before though, I'm not sure what I'm looking at yet/how to tell what condition it's in. (still learning) Damn, I guess I need to think about getting the FSM...
