Ok.. I have a '89 240sx Fastback with abouttttt 160k? miles in it. The car runs FINE~~~ very strong but the problem is that like when I try to start it for the first time each day, the car just wont start! it will keep cranking and cranking and i gotta keep turning the car on off on off and on and off and like after 10 tries or something it will start. each time i try to start it gets closer to starting. if i leave the car running for about 15 - 30 minutes, and turn it off the car will start again without ANY problems, just that if i leave it off for awhile it has the same problem. Anyone have any idea what can be the problem?

Sorry for the loonngg assss posst :oface

THANX IN ADVANCE ALL!!!

I had cloged fuel injector and a messed up fuel pressure regulator do that to me. try pressing the gas while turning it over. I ran fuel injector cleaner through it to get it to start better. Not sure if it will work for you but you could try it.

Mine's doin the same thing right now, except when I turn on the key, no noise coming from the fuel pump, I'm in the process of replacing that.

But first of all you should find out if you have fuel, spark, and compression. Run some tests and find out what the problem is. Might wanna check your timing too.

with a compression tester. Ether borrow one or you will need to buy one.

Get that compression tester, take out all your plugs and ground the coil wire away from the engine. Screw in the gauge, crank the starter while at WOT until the needle goes up 5 times. That is your final reading for that cylinder. Repeat for all 4.

PS. Make sure you ground the coil wire against the body, or else you stand the risk of the spark arcing and igniting the gas fumes coming out the plug holes.
