i was thinking about it and i thought the cheapest way to improve performance would be to do some free weight reduction lol yes i know its a WILD concept (sarcasm) but i would really like to spend as little money possible. my aem cold air intake should be coming in 2 or 3 days and im waiting to buy the mrev2 and plenum spacer but after that ill be flat broke thanks for any replies in advance

I'm going to guess that any serious weight reduction effort, beyond removing spare, etc., will be every bit as expensive, if not more so, than adding mods. If I had to though, I'd look into lightweight body parts like hood, trunk, etc. Anything else, like taking the motors out of the seats, etc will ruin your G. (IMO)

Here is how another Floridian solved the weight problem in his vehicle.

alright thats cool thanks. another question i already ordered an aem cold air intake bu my friend said hell buy it from me for the same price i bought it. is the aem cold air intake really worth it? its more expensive that the popcharger and stillen and injen. does it really exceed the power of those other intakes?

I don't know if it outperforms any of those because JWT also says they give the best performance time after time. But it costs more simply because there's more materials involved (inlet tube, synthetic filter, whatever else comes with it).

You could get some racing style seats to reduce weight. I have to imagine those seats are pretty heavy. And also the sound deadening material that are under the interior panels.

I've been told that the Stillen CAI is the best intake for SEDANs while the JWT is best for coupes. Either way, the JWT is definitely the most popular by the owners on this site. Something to keep in mind...

one question, why is the stillen intake considered a CAI? doesnt it just go in the exact place of the stock intake? shouldnt it be called a Short Ram? so im guessing that if the popcharger is the most popular intake, then the CAIs arent too good for the g? thats what it seems like. does anybody have an aem or injen CAI and can put in some input?

CAI and short ram intakes have their own pros and cons, and a short ram intake can be considered a cold air intake. Check out the Modification Database under the Look Here sticky. The first page has a lot of info on intakes.

how serious are you trying to go? removal of rear seat, carbon fiber hood and deck lid. Suspension parts like rotors and calipers are control arms can be replaced. Your going to spend money on weight reduction unless you wanna just strip the car.

Take out the spare tire...

The seats can be replaced.. The stock seats are about 75lbs +!!

I have a R34 GTR seat like this one in my G35C it weighs about 30lbs and is SOOO much more comfortable.

Nismodan69:

I agree with you, the G-35 neeeds to loose weight. Even a 100 lb weight loss, will make a difference in its performance. Simply replacing your exhaust with Stillen Exhaust, as I did, will lead to some weight reduction. Yes, weight reduction will cost money.
