Been looking at what cams to run for a couple days now and i'm still getting nowhere. I dont want to run solid lifters so it looks like i have the choice of 256/8.5mm lift 260 or 270 with 8.8mm lift. Now onto my setup i run nistune,255 pump,650cc injectors, supertech pistons,k1 rods, arp studs, stock intake manifold gasket matched lower secton, supertech undercut valves, tomei valve springs,t3 ebay manifold and will be running a holset hx35 with a bep .70 ar exhaust housing. The car is not a daily driver so what i would like to have the power from 3500-4k up and would like to make around 400 wheel hp. Will any certain cam setup help spoolup or am i better off with the stock cam. The other option is sending my cams out for boost boys regrind just wondering what the cost is on that if its worth just getting tomei's. thanks in advance many headaches in front of the computer trying to figure this out.

For your power goals, my opinion is that the Tomei PONcams should be fine. They're a PnP cam, no adjustable gears needed. No loss in bottom end, and should wake the top end up for you to be able to reach your power goals and still be pretty efficient.

If you're willing to give up some bottom end (not something I usually recommend doing as the CA already lacks in that department), you could jump up to the 260x8.8 PROcams. I think they move peak HP to about 7K, and should let you run out to 8K pretty easily without the power falling off too much. I would say though that the use of adjustable cam gears and the appropriate tuning needed to make the most of them is recommended.

from what ive read cam gears are recomended for all the procams and used more for 9k+ rpm engines. now I dont know this for fact and its just some hit and miss info ive gathered here and there when i was cam shopping. Poncams should do your dirt just fine tho. Its what I bought for my CA. theyre supposed to be as float said and just drop in and have fun, not to aggressive for the street and perform very well all around through the rev band. seems like ppl have reported that they really pick up the 3k to 7.5k band, depending on turbo/boost pressure possibly even as high and/or higher than 8 but I dont kno for 1st hand fact as of yet.
hope this helps

On the regrind option, you'll save about $200+ and as for performance, if 400hp is your goal, I wouldn't even waste the $ on cams. But seeing that youy this won't be daily driver, the 260s or 270s will be just fine.
