Here's a thread about Oil and Filters from our resident oil expert PalmerWMD.

And here's some specific feedback on Fram filters, again from our Oil Man.

OEM filters. Used K&N didn't like how the oil got dirty faster. Fram, if you use the teflon coated stuff, I heard that the teflon come loose (although I've never used the stuff). I used the x2 filters. Those filtered really well, but are expensive. The standard orange fram stuff was good for a budget but for a little more I'd be willing to pay for oem as they've got more filter stuff in there.

I use the factory OEM filters. They range from $3up to $7 at the dealer. For some reason they go up and down in price around here.

I like OE, MOBIL or the ones I ordered, Power enterprises, and K+N.

I used the K+N on my Z31 and Z32 cars, and loved them for their filtering and busrst capacity and ease of installation.

for my s13? PE all the way from now on with the new head.

otherwise its been OE.-chet

it was a toss-up between that and the wal-mart supertech filter. i prefer to use mobil 1 filters but they cost a lot.

I always use OE filters because the dealor does my changes. I work next door to the local dealorship and I know them real well. They only charge me 14 bux

Yeah I know its lazy, but for 14$, my time is worth more then that.

Eh - I've heard bad things from Fram. Maybe just some salesperson mish mash. But they always tell me its the paper **** inside blah blah, if I ever went fram I'd go with the double guard.

Personally I run a quaker state filter.

Wow.... You guys that are using Fram filters need to seriously read this:

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com...tudy/ (go down to where he examines the Fram filters)

He says that Quaker State filters are only Purolaters with the QS logo/color.

I personally use PureONE filters. I used to use Fram, but then I found out they had s*** filtering surface area when compared to othe filters and they also used cardboard ends for the filter element where as most brands use aluminum.

Wix at the moment, but thats really just for break in where I didn't care as much about it...it'll need to be changed after the first startup, then at 500 miles again. After that I'll have to figure it out....anyone have any input on Wix filters?
