I've always had a preference for Chevron/Texaco gasoline for my cars. They have me convinced Techron is a superior additive, although I'm merely taking their word for it! LOL! Does anyone, here, prefer one brand of gasoline, to another? I realize some brands (such as Chevron/Texaco) are not available throughout the country.

Just curious....

Whatever is the cheapest 93 octane around. Usually Sheetz or Sam's club.

Texaco and Chevron are not available in this part of New England. I donly use 93 octane, but I do add a can of Techron every 5000 miles to both of my G's.

WAWA 87 Octane regular

I was born in Secaucus and moved to Florida 18 years ago. I went back to visit a few years ago and could not get over how many gas stations there were called WAWA.

i donot have a particular preference. i would be interested to see a study on the efficiency of various brands of fuel.

I've been using WaWa exclusively for the past few years after having an issue with a BP station that is the closest to me.

I personally do not believe there is any difference between brands. 87 octane is 87 octane. 93 octane is 93 octane no matter what brand is on the pump.
Frequently you will see gasoline trucks with no logo or brand on them pulling into various branded gasoline stations.
Same s#it different company.

I did do a study a few years ago using 91 octane for one month and 93 octane for one month carefully calculating my MPG as well as obseving performance.
My MPG was better using regular and I noticed no appreciable difference in performance either.

So after 143,686 miles I've used a total of 6019.558 gallons which gives me an average 23.869858 miles per gallon since 12/31/2005 when I purchased my G

I use Exxon just because the station is nice, clean, close to my house and easy to get in and out of. I guess most all national name brands are about the same.

If I do use a f/i cleaner, I like Lucas fuel treatment. Try to do that every 3k miles. Especially in my Camaro since a tank of gas can last up to a year.

Do you hate driving the Camaro that much that a tank of gas lasts a year?
Sell it to Greg :chuckle: :poke:

No....I love my Camaro so much that I can't sell it even though I need too.

:gotme

I haven't had it out of the garage since the car show in September. :tisk: I'm not driving it now because it is 100 degrees here and the a/c doesn't work.

I'm thinking about having it cremated and put in an urn.

I go with the cheapest Premium gas around. Sometimes Sunoco, or when I go a little south, sheetz/wawa because their sandwich stations are awesome. But, once or twice a month, I go Shell, because of the Giant food discounts. $3 per fill up means I get premium for the price of regular.

Chevron.

While the gas may be the same, the additives are not.

Also, I try to go to newer stations. They have newer tanks, which = less crud and sediment.

If the gas is low in the tank there is more chance of getting crud out. "Back in the day" if the pumps were pumping slowly it was due to it struggling to pump from the bottom and your best bet was to stop getting gas and go elsewhere. I doubt you can really tell today tho.

I prefer Shell, for three reasons. First, they claim that the nitrogen will help keep the engine clean. Second, they tend to be newer and cleaner gas stations in my area. Third, there is a Shell station right around the corner from work.

I will also use Mobil for the second reason above.

"British Petroleum merged with Amoco (formerly Standard Oil of Indiana) in December 1998,[36] becoming BP Amoco plc.[37] In 2000, BP Amoco acquired Arco (Atlantic Richfield Co.)[38] and Burmah Castrol plc.[39] As part of the merger's brand awareness, the company helped the Tate Modern British Art launch RePresenting Britain 1500–2000[40] In 2001, the company formally renamed itself as BP plc[37] and adopted the tagline "Beyond Petroleum," which remains in use today"

^ Bingo.

I'm not sure what brand is at our local Fry's, but we get a buck off a gallon since we buy groceries and get our Rx filled there... so we're using that pretty often.

Convenience store called Moto-Mart about a mile from my house. They are branded BP and I use the 92 octane grade. The main reason I go there is because they only charge a nickel more a grade so the 92 only costs a dime more than regular. Everyone else in town charges a minimum of .20+ for premium if they even have it
