when i replaced mine it cost me about $160 at the dealer. and they asked for the VIN and code to make sure it was the right sensor.

i went to canadian tire and they were selling a universal one for just about the same price so i just went to the dealer and bought that one.

Universal just felt wrong to me.

i used a bosch universal one and while it was more work with splicing the wires, its not too bad and well worth the savings, in my opinion. plus i used a bosch direct replacement the first time and saw no change except for fixing the code that was showing. the 2nd time i had a o2 code and used the bosch universal one, i instantly had better mpg. (about 2 mpg better, and it has consistently stayed there since.) heres a link with the info for the universal one i used the second time.

the original ones are bosch so using bosch replacement (even if its universal) is probably the best bet

IIRC - the Bosch universal replacements are not quite the same as the OE sensors (I worked for a MBZ dealer for several years in the parts dept we tried the Univ replacements for a while and went back to the OE parts, maybe things have changed though??). I think it had something to due with the resistance (some created by having to solder, or crimp the orig connectors on).

Having said that - I just replaced one of my sensors with a Bosch Univ. (had to go as cheap as possible - gas is killing me). So far it works. However for a few $$ more I could have bought an NTK (aka NGK) OE replacement. If I have to replace another sensor, I'll be buying an NTK.

always thought that the sensors were the same universal or not, the only difference is 1 is plug and play and 1 is not, they skip 1 step with the universals why would they have 2 diff lines for the same sensor
