For those that have oil temperature guages, what kind of numbers are you gettting. Post your setup as far as oil cooling setup (cooler, etc), type of gauge (mechanical/electric), brand of gauge and where its mounted.

I just insstalled my electrcic autometer into a greddy oil filter adapter and its reading 225-240 F, I dont have any additional oil cooling. The gauge is almost pinned.

Does anyone know what nomal operating temp for oil is, I may have to look into a oilcooler in the near future, anyone want to post there setup and how much it costs.

210 is ok, but 230 - 245 is a bit warm.

Post where you are getting your temps from, also what are your coresponding coolant temps?

im getting the reading thats mounted in the greddy oil filter adapter, so where the oil filter is. My coolant temps according to my obdII scanner is between 195-200 range. Im thinking its a little off due to the electric sending unit.

I see, I hate the stock oil pans on any of Nissan's 4-cyl engines.

4-qts is not enough to maintain a cool supply of oil.

I'd put a thermostated oil cooler on that sucka.

Any recomendations from anyone on a nice oil cooler setup.

if 195-200F is normal range then my stock setup is fine

either way, look into greddy oil pan,.. adds 1qt, finned for cooling, and the trap door to keep the oil from moving around

some argue that oil cooler is an over kill for a street car and that you dont want your oil too cold, then nismofreak's suggestion of oil thermosstart for oil cooler would make sense. Still, it's a **** load of money. I would just get the pan and call it a day.

The pan's only for sr20's though right? I've never seen a greddy one for a ka.

Anyway, yea, if you add an oil cooler, consider going all the way and getting a thermostat for it.

Also, You "may" want to look into synthetic oil, which arguably helps new & old engines a like - this is a debateable point, but read and come to your own conclusion. Also, synthetic oil runs at a higher temperature than normal oil efficiently.

The motor was just built and I only have 3k on it. Im waiting for my next oil change to switch to synthetic. Ill see how it is then before adding a cooler and I dont think anyone makes a KA oil pan yet, I would buy it if they did.
