1) The car has to be wiped down with a California duster and wheels wiped down after getting home.2) The steering wheel has to be turned straight when parked. 3) Must keep a cleaning kit in the trunk of my car for emergencies. (portable vac, quick detail, rags, etc)4) carpet must be kept clean.5) Engine bay must be cleaned.6) The car is parked where I can admire it from my office window and parked in the back of the lot to avoid door dings.

Yes, I know they're ridiculous.

I think you might have what some call ocd...lol, I know we all like to keep our baby clean and shiny whenever possible, I get the same way for about 3 months then the novelty kinda wears off....When I got my CLS63, I wouldnt let anyone else in the car no less my wife drive it, now 6 months later thats all she drives....funny how time changes things. I always keep a nice microfiber cloth in my glovebox in case I need to wipe anything down and keep the food and drink to a minimum and always park in the garage so my cars stay pretty clean.....but the one thing I am very anal about is def. my wheels, I hate dirty wheels, whether they be chrome, black, or silver they have to be clean and shiny at all times.

Hello,Let's see, though I am a idiot smoker, hell will freeze over before I smoke in it. I too keep a microfiber cloth in the storage console. Also, I check fluids three to four times a week.Yblegall, how has your experience with Jet Chips been? I think I asked you about it before but cannot find the associated thread. I danced a jig when I first found out about it. After asking about it on NICO, I decided not to do it.Cheers,ML

Yes, #1 & 6 ! I agree. My black paint has to always look dust free and the rims and tires must be on shine before I roll out. There is nothing OCD about how one takes care of his car. I hate to see nice cars that are trashed out and not taken care of, especially black cars.

ML, the jet chip is a decent little mod, although I installed it the same time as the CAI and my greddy exhaust so I couldnt really tell you about power gains or more mpg's just from the chip, all in all, with all the mods I def. see a gain in performance and if I'm not on it, a little better mpg's, but of course we do these mods for the power and the sound so I'm not too worried about mpg's.

Oh, it's so nice to hear another person with the same "anal" tendancies as me! Here's my list:

1. Cleaning kit in the trunk - includes Meguires Instant Detailer spray, California duster and glass cleaner spray2. I wipe down my chrome wheels practically every day.3. Lexol Leather conditioner/cleaner once every couple of weeks on entire interior4. Furniture polish/cleaner on wood of dash regularly5. Vacuum once a week6. Wax at least 4 or 5 times a year (after clay bar of course)7. Meguires Interior detailer wipes (once a week)8. Armor All Extreme Tire shine gel (every couple of weeks)9. Engine wiped down/detailed every month10. Dont' forget those nice, exhaust pipes every couple of weeks (chrome polish works the best)

Results: My car looks clean even after it rains (water just falls off of the paint), I get notes on my car regularly of people asking if I'm interested in selling, Just sold my '98 grand prix GTP in 2 days (which I bought new and kept perfectly for 10 years and got nearly $8.5k for it ($5kover NADA) when I bought my 06 M45 - The buyer said that he couldn't believe it was a 10 year old car with 120K miles on it.

There is something to be said for keeping a pristine car, but I guess the reason I do it is because I am just a car nut at heart (I've subscribed to Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Automobile and Road and track for more than 25 years!)

Anyway, I love my red M45 and I plan to baby it until it's time to say goodbye which will be a long time from now. Nothing like a great, long-term relationship, right?

mpgmusic I think you are my lost brother. You actually use just about all the products I use. Your "analism" is right on par. My pipes were removed and polished the 1st weekend I had the car and I just bought a new set because I could not stand the scratches at the bottom of them. I even use to live in Plano, in fact I grew up there and went to PSHS. I really looked hard at the red M45 but it had too many war dings (for me). I'm getting mine cleaned up for work tomorrow. No loose items of trash or otherwise at ANY time. If you look inside my M35 at any given time the only thing you should see is my laptop bag.

Immaculate exterior as well.

I also have a thing about setting the wheel straight when parked.

I knew we were out there; I posted this thread to get us out of the closet and to say it's ok; you are not alone.

I'm sure we have more out there.

I have loved the M since I saw it at the 05 Chicago auto show. Now that I finally have one I try to take great care of it, my most anal tendency is driving position... For example I never leave my arm on the armrest in one spot for to long, and the same goes for my left arm. I just don't want the padding to become flat. I'm also kinda funny about how I get out of the car. I let the seat and wheel stop before I get out and I lift my weight of the seat by the wheel before I turn to get out. Hopefully all of these things will keep the interior clean and less worn.

I wash it every other day. Neighbors think I have issues.Wax it every month. No one washes the car but me.Always use micro fiber cloths.Always have all weather mats. Place a towel after working out, so no sweat will penetrate the seat.Never lean on the side bolster when getting in and out.Never park by any one to prevent dings.

There are more. But, don't want to put anyone to sleep.

All the usual stuff, but most important is where it gets parked to avoid (as much as possible) the door ding villians.

Plus cupholder always closed and armrest always slid forward (except when cupholder actually in use).

You crazies have friends. too have a car care kit in the trunk. I had to minimize it to ease the placement of my golf bag/clubs ('03's have small trunks) Anyhow, being in AZ, the Cali Duster is KING. Here's a tip for the wheels. I save my old dusters (replace them every 6 months or so...) and they work GREAT for a quick touch-up on the chrome wheels.

My car is an '03 with 31K original miles. Pearl white with the 18" chromes with some aggressive looking tires (Yokohama Avid WS3 255/45). I added larger "oval" chrome exhaust tips as the stock ones on the Y34's looked too anemic. The car is garaged and ALWAYS kept spotless. I always get asked what the car is, and when I tell them it's 5 years old, they do not believe me.

This is my 53rd car (that's not a typo) and when I sell one of my cars on my own (as opposed to trading, which I do occasionally) I have always sold to the first person that comes out to see the car. Always the same comment - THIS car looks brand new.

See? Our addiction pays off!
