As I asked, I searched and didn't really come up with thte answer I was looking for. Installing 800cc injectors and running 18 psi after tuning with Apexi PFC. What is a good ignition upgrade? Would the Splitfire Coils be a good idea?

stock ignition is good for over 600whp.splitfires are no better than stock coils, just flashy colours and new.

we were having some ignition break up on my rb25.

we were running 1.1 bar and hit about 340. had to regap the plugs. (dont remember what it was, but way lower then the stock)

kept getting some mean break up. regrapping helped it out, but couldnt go anymore. prob something else, but never really looked into it. i was looking into getting something like AEM to help ignition

sounds like your coils are going bad, aem wont help dying coils.i made 387whp on 17psi and had no igniton break up, stock coils and plugs gapped to .8mm.

We have seen considerable improvements over here utilizing The HKS DLI Ignition amplifier. There are also some cars using split fire coils with positive results over 700 HP as well.

It all depends on what your power goals are. With 800cc injectors I am guessing 750ish?? The two American Owned 750HP Skylines over here were using both the HKS DLI and the Spitfire coils with consistent results.

My old GTR that I sold is going over 650 in its next stage. They will be using The SDS EM-3 that I had already put in with MSD DIS 4 ignition Amp and Splitfire Coils.

agree.using splitfires is a good idea because most coilpacks are up to 15 years old now...... and splitfires are hella cheaper than stockers.i know the supra guys swear by the hks dli unit but for the money it seems that the xspowerpack or the b&m newvolt are cheaper alternatives and offer the same advantages.unless you are really breaking up the ignition i would stick with stock components, there are numerous threads on skylinesaustralia about the splitfires and stock components, its worth a read.
