Just curious guys. When you're cruising in the G to work or just around town on the weekends, what are you playing on that bose? I'm pretty sure we all have that song that just makes driving in the G so much better. Right?

Right now for me its.......

Industrial Revolution - Immortal TechniqueWelcome to The Jungle - Guns n RosesHomecoming - Kanye West

just to name a few.

But don't get me wrong, i do listen to music. I have to update my CD's though i'm gettin tired of them (which are usally a mix of songs) so i am basically just listening to the radio now. Z100 is my main radio station i listen to, for any local people who know what i'm talking about!

Which allman brothers song was used for Top Gear's theme song? Isn't it called Jessica or something? Great song, and really the only reason I know the Allman Brothers lol.

I don't have Bose and I don't have my G out yet so I can't really comment. This weekend it should be out........can't f'in wait. So once I get it out and update my library to get all the new songs to roll to, I'll let you know. But its always something one can dance to and the girls like...so a lot of the rap and R&B songs you hear in the clubs. But I also like European techno if I'm in that mood, you can find yourself driving pretty fast to that stuff. I've got everything really for most occasions. But one of my all time favorites to listen to when I take a ride on the freeways is Cochise by Audioslave.

There was a thread about the music we like to listen to previously as well last summer I think.

I listen to World Music or ethnic rhythms:

Buena Vista (Cuban Salsa)Cesaria Evora (Cape Verde off of African Coast)Lady Smith Black Mambazoo (South African music from the diamond mines)Ruben Fakira (Cuban)Bossa Nova (Brazil and South America)Ruma Pacha (Bolivia and the Andes)etc., etc., etc.

Here's an interesting point though, much of American music is largely about love lost, love gained, love pained, she left me, I left her, she met another man, I met someone else, etc., whereas World Music is often more political in nature.

Ha Ha frank - I knew I like you for a reason.

#3 Big Pun used to work in the pizza shop in the Soundview neighborhood I grew up in - in the Bronx - this was before he got Big literally and figuratively. He is one of the nastiest lyricists to ever grace the mike.

The only rap in my car right now is a group called Little Brother out of NC. I believe this is their 3rd album - but I'm just catching on to them - the album has only 10 tracks and each one is hot. Hard Beats, intelligent lyrics.

Other than that - I'm listening to R and B and I'm currently into the old Soul and R and B records that the original and current rappers are still sampling. I'm from the Bronx and was growing up during the origins of Hip Hop and I can remember the "jams" in the park - with power from the street lights. I've always had DJ friends that had crates of records, and who would be listening to the beatles etc. just to find a break beat.

Hey G_whizz - whats your beef with rap, r and b - I can't speak for Techno. I wonder if I could find something in those 2 genres that you would appreciate.

In a raspy voice-

ooooooh, ooooooh, oooooohlost and twisted thoughts that spin round my headI'm spinningooooooh I'm spinning

this song had a wicked guitar solo - that I could imagine someone sampling and making a hip hop song.

that's all I can remember from Pearl Jam - something about a Garden.

I think the more interesting question would be-- What does our music choice say about us-- who we are, what we think about, etc.

No real beef with it. I'm just more of a "rocker" now.

I think alot of the rap out there promotes violence (I know it sounds like I'm generalizing here) it's hard to convey over the net...so I don't want to offend anyone.

Whether in the lyrics or the vids (Ok I do like their vids.. hawt chicas) Just not my style anymore. I just find the majority of it all "gangsta" and that puts ideas in a younger generations head that guns and the "gangsta" life are kewl. Or they listen to their music and get all "hyped" and go looking for trouble.

I used to love rap (Ok... back in the day) BDP, Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy etc... But that was whole different time in my life too...lol

I do have to endure it when I'm with my significant other (in her car) as she listens to R&B and some rap, hip hop or around her brothers who also listen to reggae (she's black btw)

But it's funny as hell when I have them in my car rock'n out to Godsmack...

Great summer tune you threw in there btw..

Anyways, I'm all ears if you want to throw out a recommendation.

+1 for Godsmack--I'm Going Down

Also Incubus--Redefine and Deep Inside < would be an even better song if they stuck to the funk and didn't transition into the hard rock. Funky Monks by the Chili Peppers, Thunderstruck (AC/DC--an even better drinking song/game), Scream by A7X.

I agree on the rap and stuff with the lyrics, but I don't really listen to the lyrics to be honest. I just like the beats.
