Car was at the body shop the first half of this week. Just got it back last night and it looks good, I'm happy again. The shop posts pictures each day of the car on their website to show progress. I took a gander and I found something I'm curious about.

I've noticed in the trunk when I take the carpeting and cover for the spare tire out, that there are vents in the sheet metal. I figured this was just for circulation or something. Looking at the pictures, the vents appear to go outside (gray rectangle in the pic) and there are also vents directly behind the rear wheels. What are the vents for?

the ones behind the rear wheels are probably to help the brakes cool and/or reduce the wind pressure/drag on the mudflaps... that would be my guess

Nope. They are the vents for the cabin. It those vents were not there, when you tryed to shut the door, it would not close all the way or at all due to the increased pressure in the cabin. They aid in ventalation for the heat/ac as well. I have seen cars that these had stuck shut and had an awful buffeting noise w/ the windows down while driving.

Is all of the pressure in the cabin forced out of those vents in the trunk then or are there more?

I don't know if the G has more or not. I know VW's only have 2 on the back.

+1 with AWG

All vehicles have them just for that reason. Even airplanes have a vent.....it just work the opposite, to hold the pressure in.

Yeah, it makes sense, just never knew they were there on every car and what their purpose was in the G.

And why would you want a dead hooker anyway? Personally I like mine alive and moving, but that's just me.

You don't have to pay a dead hooker. And if you do it GTA style, you make money...

Yeah but it is only good if she is still warm. Hard to keep warm dead hookers these days. Outside temperature is around freezing. But I guess you can always hook up a portable heater to your car. Should keep her warm.

But nothing feels better thand the warm dead hooker.

Don't worry, it doesn't look as bad as it does. They just had to take it off to apply heat to pop out the dent, apply some bondo-like stuff, and repaint.

If you asked me, this picture is even worse. This was the following morning.
