im about to do a shortram on my intake (battery relocated to trunk) and the 3 foot plastic intake pipe has 2 connections on it, what are these and do these need to be connected to the intake after i do the shortram conversion? are these like the idle line and such? or should i get small filters somehwere (where?!) and put them on them like the guy did in the shortram article in FAQ's

yeah, this is what i have done already, i literally had the rape the battery tray out, as you can see from the 'wrinkles' in the metal below it, then i sanded it (it was rusty somewhat) and primered, painted it, that way itll stay cleaner. i also cut a hole in there so in the future if i wanna put the intake where the reservoir is i have the option.. or for ic piping

alright a little update on my venture____________________________________________________took a 45 degree 2 inch elbow from home depot and ghetto rigged the connectors that were on the long piece of the intake tuping onto it.

___________________________________________________then painted it black with some plastic paint

____________________________________________________mounted it.. had to cut a piece off the idler tubing, right behind the fat part of it.

____________________________________________________and finally rigged in the intake, had some fun with that, cut off a piece from the long part of the intake where it connected to the filter and had to rig it onto the intake backwards, it was pretty hard to get it on since the tubings valleys are thinner then the maf pipe.

o yeah.. one problem still, the maf wire is too short so ill cut it and extend it tommorrow..if you have any comments, ill be glad to hear em

how are you going do plug in the MAF? would cuting the origional wire and splicing in more length create more resistince(sp?). or are you going to try to get the origional wire over to the other side?

ill splice them longer, the resistance increase will be miniscule, it would be a lot harder to try to extend the wire because of the insulation, and cutting it up id have a bigger chance breaking the other wires which will then have to be spliced, so ill just splice this one.

ill do it soon, so ill report back with final results

alright, the deed has been done, the car started up great, i didnt even reset the ECU (altho i prolly should, i will soon.)

the throttle response seems better, its also a little louder in the higher rpm range probably because of less resistance in the intake. idle is fine as well, so no negative side effects here :D

yea the throttle response i think is better, although it might be in my head... easiest way to find out for me is to find another 240 with stockish intake setup

but its definately louder now than b4 , that must mean something :D

yep, its more louder.... and there is a strange sound that came out from maf intake, like a "bob" when press gas to floor. its sound great .

with the stock intake, the bob was more large and responce to rev more large. now, its a little more faster than before.
