What size engine do you have? I have the 1.5L engine and can average about 32-35mpg under normal driving and shifting like grandma. If I drive it like a racecar I get around 28-30mpg. Depending on what engine you have and with the wear on it I doubt you would have more than 80hp. The 210 is by no means fast at all, but is a very fun car(imo) and is also slow which is perfect for any new teenager driving. By deluxe model I assume you have a 5-speed?

is park included as a speed? i have a problem with my dash lights and my tail lights dont work, i checked the fuses so that isnt the problem, so what can it be the wiring harness? i know when my dad owned this car a few years ago he had problems keeping the dash lights working, everytime they went out you had to hit the dash and it would come back on, but now that i own it it dosnt work at all even if you hit the dash and the tail lights stopped working about the same time the dash did, any advice?

No park is not included as a speed, if I recall they only came in 3-speeds auto but don't quote me on that. I'll have to look in my Factory service manual about the dash lights, probably a lose/broken wire.

Yeah, they only came in 3 speed auto, 4 speed manual, or 5 speed manual. Available engines were either the A12, A14, or A15. I believe all the "deluxe" models were the A15.

I believe hp rating on the A15 motor is 80 HP.

I have the A14 1.4 liter, due to the chrome trim I believe it is a gx model tho doesn't say so. 86HP.

five speed manual makes the car really fun.

What kind of parts are you looking for? Nissan made like 80 gazillion 210's, and because very few are still on the road today, there are a ton of original parts still available from Nissan. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll see if I can guide you in the right direction. An '81 210 was my first car too! Do you have a hatch, sedan, or wagon? Mine was a brown hatch.

Cool, mine was the same but brown. I didn't have the tach or clock, and mine was a 5-speed, not auto, but other than that the same.

For the gaskets, try http://www.everythingnissan.com. Their parts catalog doesn't seem to work for 1981 for some reason, but you can call them and have them look up the parts 866-464-5727. Mention NICO, and you'll get A+ help from them.

For the upholstery, you can either try a local upholstery shop or look for the junkyard seats. Although, I think you might be better off just getting it re-upholstered. Junkyard seats in good condition may be hard to find.

My 1980.5 "Deluxe" wagon has an A14. I think "Deluxe" refers to things like having a passenger side mirror, rear wiper, or radio. May include the leather-lookin' steering wheel and shift knob.

My 1979 wagon that my ex-wife got from a junkyard doesn't have a passenger-side mirror or rear wiper.

On the subject of performance, I think my 210 ran the 1/8th mile in a about 16.5 seconds, at 60mph. The G-Tech meter said I'd run the 1/4mi in 19+ seconds.
I tell people I'd have to time it with a calendar. :-)

It's a lot of fun to drive, but when I taking racing, be it drag strip or autocross, I usually have the slowest thing out there.

The best performance mod so far has been the Addco rear swaybar. I makes the car corner a lot better. It leans over less, and you can corner harder before plowing the front tires (understeer).

I've had very little luck finding ANYTHING for my car in a junk yard. I think the knuckle-draggers who work at those places have something against foreign cars in general, and Datsun 210s in particular.

Back when I was married, I found a junkyard that had 2 or 3 210s. While I was deployed, my then-wife got the 1979 wagon for me, thinking I would use it as a parts car. When I got back from deployment, they had crushed all the other 210s. That was 2008, and it was the last time I saw one in a junkyard.

I'd respect the junkyard staff better if they said, for example, that there isn't much demand for parts because 210 owners are so few and so thrifty, and it doesn't make economic sense for them to keep 210s in stock when they could use that space for something that would make them more money.

Instead, about all I get out of them is, "Them cars ain't worth nuthin'. We crush 'em as soon as we get 'em."

So, I've given up finding 210 parts in a junkyard, and that's one reason I'm on the forums now.

Are you still on here? I haven't been on here in a long time and just ran across your thread. If you still need help with your 210, I can help, and I live near you. I have 3 Datsuns right now, a 71 1200 (B110) a 76 620 pickup, and a 79 620 King Cab pickup, and have lots of experience working on them. If you are interested in my help, I will give you my number.

Good Luck, Another Datsun Lover :yesnod
