What are the service intervals for the EX?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I am shopping for a EX and i was wondering what the service intervals are and when oil changes need to be done. The salesman told me 3750 to 7500 miles for each service which seemed a little low to me. My wife's VW needs oil changed every 5000 miles. I know the new BMW's go 10000 miles for each change. Also how much does each service cost?

Welcome to the Nico forums.

Nissan/Infiniti recommends oil changes at 3750 miles and allows 7500 mile service when the car meets light duty usage.

I have my oil changed by Infiniti at 3000 mile intervals, only because it works out to be about every 6 months. If I drove it more often, I'd be on a 5k oil change regiment. I really don't trust oil to go the full 7500, but I'm not an automotive engineer.

I paid 40 bucks for the oil change. That included all the oil, filters, washers, environmental fees and costs, plus they hand wash the car and clean the windows and vacuum the inside. The dealer I use requires an appointment but they are easy to get. The total time was about 50 minutes, and the service staff are very polite and pleasant.

yep - 3750 for oil changes. 10K for a BMW? I guess that's because BMW pays for the service on their cars for the first 50K miles. So, minimize their internal costs.

I'd hate to be the owner of a used one after 10K interval oil changes. Oil= lifeblood of your engine.

Heck, now that I think about it, based on the experiences of 3 of my neighbors and their BMW's, I'd hate to own any of their cars. All 3 complain about the cars and their dealers (love to drive them when they aren't in for service and repair, but they always seem to have a dealer "loaner" in the driveway).

Guess that's why we drive Japanese --

whatever you end up with, I'd say go with 4K to 5K intervals and you will have a happy engine.

I think I will do service every 5000 miles. According to the service manual, you can do service every 7500 miles if mostly highway miles in normal weather conditions. My miles will be 90% highway so I should be ok. Also every 5000 miles for service is easier to keep track of.

At minimum every 7500 miles to keep warranty intact.

Do they recommend every 3 months or 3750 miles, I do very ,very little miles (I bought in May have only 300 miles on so far) If I keep this rate, I will be changing oil at under 1,000 miles in August. Just interested in seeing if they would want me to schedule maintenance every 3 or 6 months??

The dealers recommend you spend as much money as possible in their service department where they try and sell you as much unnecessary service as possible. If you drive very little and plan on keeping your car for 200,000 miles then twice a year is reasonable. If you are going to off your car in 5 years or 50,000 miles like 80% of the people here, then once a year or every 7500 works well.
