Hi everyone,

Turns out I need to get some over-sized pistons. The cheapest ones I've been able to find are Supertech pistons, which I don't know anything about, and they cost about $400.

http://www.importperformancepa....html

The thing is, though, that I only plan on running 10 psi of boost. I would use stock pistons, but I can't because my block needs to be bored out. (I don't want to buy another block.)

Does anyone know of any cheaper options?

Thanks,

Darian

wiseco's are in that same price range - might come across some good used wiseco's or cp's for a lot cheaper if you keep an eye out.

$400 for a set of pistons is pretty fair.

The Wiesco's, force you to modify the pistons for the oil squirters to clear.

You still have to purchase the piston rings aswell as the pistons which make it $478.......

The DE has higher compression, so that doesn't work.

Thanks everyone,

Avoid the wiesco's, they force you to remove the oil squirters.
false, you can have the pistons notched, i use wiseco with oil squirters.

I don't know, but it was literally the first thing that appeared when I typed in "CA18 Pistons" on google. It was some import performance site that had a whole bunch of different piston manufacturers to choose from.

I was actually looking for some Mahle pistons. I know they make them for the CA18, and since Arias doesn't have one (my first choice, I'm biased), I was going to go with them. Can't argue with a company that was making pistons before your grandpa was born!

And you were able to keep the squirter in the stock location un-modified as well? I thought that the shape of the wiescos placed the opening of the squirter right in the bridge of the wrist pin opening?

I'm not questioning you, just wanting more info.

For whatever it's worth, the sales rep at the place I linked said that Wiseco corrected the oil squirter issue months ago.

several hi output CA18 run DE bottom end.Dr Drift ran moded DE pistons in an impressive CA, cams, ebay T-70 @25psi.Like some other oz/nz cars I've noticed, they "modified" the stock normally aspirated pistons

That is why I asked what setup u have in your other thread. With a good tune, DE have been used. Poor tuning will even kill expensive forged pistonsIf oversized DE available cheap from the dealer, may be an option

Just to throw this out there, I could swear I heard of someone running honda B18 pistons in their motor....and....as everyone knows....Honda stuff is very abundant and a bit cheaper in general for alot of things.

they cleared fine, the notch was made in the ridge i guess you could say, it never hit at all, and after killing those pistons, the noting area was still strong, it can be done and was done, and im probably having it done again.

and wiseco has NOT corrected the problem, i called yesterday and today to ask, just so i got two different sales rep's, they both said it has not been changed and the oil squrters would need modification, or the pistons notched.

either way, wisecos are cheaper, they come with rings and are on sale right now at raceeng.com for $411 and for my zip code with shipping the total would be $427.

with supertech your looking at atleast $480 + ship
