Im looking for an exhaust for my new G and Im in love with the Tanabe Medallion, but what the hell are test pipes. Is it different than an exhaust. Im a pure muscle car entusiast so this stuff is confusing me!

Welcome to NICO! Heres a thread on them. And next time try searching if you didn't. A lot of people on here will talk a whole lot of crap to you if you don't try searching first.

Wasn't trying too. If he really wants to get test pipes no ones going to stop him. Just figured if hes going to get them help him get a good set and point him in the right direction. To each is own

Plus being in CA doubt hes going to anyhow due to the strict emission laws

1. When he said can of worms, hes was talking about another tread where the legal issue was debated

2. My S-techs came from forged performance in Atlanta.

3. You in FL too huh never see many G around here, usually the only one at the meets at Sonic except for my buddy with a turbo G35.

Just a little more to consider. When Infiniti finds your emission system modified, they will refuse to perform warranty work on your car. They can tell, and I don't doubt that the EDR or trouble codes in the computer will also prove evidence of the modification if they needed to look that far. Also, in the event the EPA gets wind of your modification, you may find the penalties more than you are willing to pay. Not to mention that suck a mod will brand you an irresponsible yo yo to others who believe in a clean environment. Just a few things to consider.

Are you saying Infiniti voids war just for test pipes, or an cat back systems in general?

Yep. I've been told they won't even work on your car as they would be deemed an accessory after the fact.

Maybe one of the Infiniti techs will come along and give the official word.

Hmmm, I find this hard to believe. On my old Acura CLS, I had Cat and heads, no issues with dealer. Same on my S4. I bet it all depends on what dealer you go to.

Same my old WRX was full stage two and had the dealer install the parts. Never has an issue with any warranty work
