I have a RB20DET and im cracking tha block apart to build the head. and i figured maybe i should build the low end... what do you guys think?? if you think i should get pistons and rods what company do you recomend and size n spec pistons. I have a RB20 and im getting fully built TOMEI head, i have a t3/t4 upgrade, and other stuff. if i wanna boost 20 lbs once or twice at the track you think it will handle? any1 have any other recomendations on building the motor?

First off I will be running 20 pounds on my STOCK motor... well I may have just a metal headgasket and studs... But I think the stocker will do fine, if you build it then you shouldn't worry IF EVERYTHING IS IN TUNE. Hell if you had a good build and can tune well I wouldn't worry abuot running 30psi through it either.

With that said I think you may want to look into some other engine choices being that money isnt too much of an issue. First off if you are sure about sticking with the rb20 block, look into building a high rev rb24 (a very nice setup... basically an rb20 with 82mm pistons and rb26 crank/rods). Next, An rb30 is a good economical engine choice... a stock rb25 would be cheaper than a 20 build. Or another solution may simply be the stock rb26dett which is known to support 600+ horse on the stock internal everything.... It all comes down to how much you have to spend here.

Finally if I were you I would keep it to the US, get custom pistons from JE or Ross and get custom rods from someone like Eagle, Crower, or Pauter...

TOMEI also does pistons and rods i think, seen some ppl who have them, check some of the sigs.

do what DSMs_Suck, if you can get the rb26 crank and rods.

it can most of the time depend on how you do the tune, if you do it good on the stock bottom, it'll do 500hp or so....but if you do a crappy tune...say bye bye to the engine as some connecting rod could just make a hole in the block.

or you can always go with custom JE pistons, connecting rods and what not.
