I have the Pioneer AVIC F700BT. There have been newer models that have come along from Pioneer and they work very well. Check out www.avic411.com before you buy for reviews/hacks and mods.

You can theme them, add traffic cams, run different map software, etc. It's pretty sweet. The maps are pretty up to date as well, of course no map is 100% up to date so sometimes you'll be missing a street if the street is brand new.

As for speed, the newer models are a lot quicker. Mine particular model if a bit slow, but it still works well. I've had it for about 2 years now.

Most popular hack is playing dvds while driving and able to modify the GPS settings when driving. There's two ways to do it, a software method (reflash) or a repin of the harness.

Spend the extra money and spring for the F900BT and not the F700. They are essentially the same unit, however, the 900 has a larger screen. I've got it and it's awesome. It also uses teleatlas maps so you can easily upgrade the maps with little fanfare and there's a large community around hacking it. Plus, it can be tweaked to look like the factory unit.

If you decide to go with it, let me know and I can show you how to install the antenna so that it's completely obscured from view. I think I have an extra backup camera sitting around too.

Yeah go 900BT for sure. I'm running the same firmware as the 900BT anyways, but the extra speed is worth the money.

Check out the Alpine INA W900BT, best iPod intergration out there.

Also, contact forum member Broadfield when you decide to purchase, he can cut you a deal. Crutchfield is good CS but their prices are rediculous. Broadfield should crush them...

cartoys is hands down the worst place to buy stereo stuff, price wise at least

amazon is probably cheapest, but they give you basically no customer support and you'd have to watch for return policies etc.

definitely pm broadfield before purchasing though like mentioned above, pretty sure he works at a car stereo shop

I purchased a kenwood decent nav system for about 450 on amazon, has bluetooth, nav, all the fun stuff, but i would have to agree with the above poster, amazons customer service is probably poor just because of the fact that car stereos is not something they specialize in, like a car stereo shop, but price wise it is one of the best.
