When wiring an amp to the stock versa stereo (or pretty much any stock stereo in any car) you have two options: 1. you can get an amplifier with speaker-level inputs or 2. you can buy and install a line-output converter.
Either way you will want to connect to the appropriate output wires in the back of the stereo. Wiring color information is available from the shop manual (you can find a downloadable version somewhere on the site.)
If you are hooking up a subwoofer, you will want to splice a connection to one of the speaker outputs (probably one of the rear outputs) without permanently separating it. You can use a splice clip, or you can twist and solder the wire together.
If you are using and amp and new speakers to replace the stock door speakers, you can simply clip the appropriate wires and hook up your own to run either to the amp or to the converter. Then you get to run the output wires from the amp to the new door speakers.
Either way it will take quite a while to pull all of the appropriate plastic to hide all of the wiring. I assume you've already run the power wires from the amp and remembered to hook a fuse as close to the battery as possible on the power feed wire. One more consideration is that you should run the signal wires somewhere other than next to the power wires. Sometimes the induction from the power wire can distort the signal if the wires are too close together.
