So I'm trying to figure out why my 93 240sx isn't running quite right. It makes a lot of noise when you rev it, but doesn't seem to have any balls. I was checking my timing today to see if that may have been the problem, and had a complete noob question.
I looked at this picture

Then went and looked at my engine. I understand you're supposed to look down on the pulley, but from what angle? Directly above? From the side by the distributor? I have no idea, and it matters because depending where I look from, my timing is either 15 or 20 degrees.
Any help anyone? I'm sure I'm not the only person that's ever wondered about this....
If this isn't the problem, I think I'm going to check my camshaft alignment, because the guy I bought the car from just did the timing chain, and judging by the other work he's done to the car, it's obvious he's a complete hack.
Thanks a lot guys,
Danato
