What engine is it. The picture isn't very clear, it's hard to tell.

Thats a 24de, looks like the heater hose but its just the covering that looks cut up.

Just kidding its the lower radiator hose. You will definatly know if it has a leak when your driving

Well its around the intake manifold.. i knwo there are some tubes that split off and run along the intake manifold... not really sure. Havnt looked at a ka in a while.

If that is what it is it can be blocked off, I didn't use it in my kat setup.

I cannot find this hose in the FSM...

This hose split's off of the intake tube right before the throttle body..I'm thinking that I'm running rich partly because of this tube is carrying metered air from the MAF and letting it leak out(sort of like a atmoshere dump BOV)so the ECU is compensating for a lean cond. with fuel..

Thanks 4 the help

Ryan

this hose is mangled and leaking bigtime..it carries air not antifreeze..I just can't find it in the FSM??

I'm thinking they should've split the FSM into two part's like Mitsu does..

1-Engine mechanical.body2-Electrical

This way everything get's covered..

Any ideers??

Take it off and cap the hole.

It's purpose I don't know, I always assumed it was some sort of resonator, just ditch it and cap it off like Nab said.

Ok....I'l do that..

So does it make sense that this hose that obviously carries metered MAF air NOT being plugged and leaking would cause me to run rich to a certain extent?

What did you plug that hole with ..btw??

Thanks

Yes your right, it would leak metered air causing you to run rich. To plug it I would find some sort of cap, or just electric tape the hell out of it.

Still wondering where it plug's into, because that probably should be plugged up too......

Anyone know where this plugs into on the 24de?

I plugged up that hole and it seem's to have stopped my rich condition-

I changed the oil and everytime I've checked it, I don't smell gas so that's great!

My idle is still between 1200-1400rpm so something is wrong there. I haven't tried adjusting the idle manually at the TB yet....I actually think that even if I did adjust the idle manually it would work it's way back up...

Someone else adjusted their idle and it came right back up too...

I have an rb20, so i havent looked at a KA in some time, but if I think it might be a hose going to an intake resonator - totally pointless.

I could be wrong.. cant really tell from the pic.

it would usually work the other way since the intake manifold usually has a vaccum, it would suck in extra air and cause you to run lean.

that hose is for the idle air control valve. it takes air around the throttle body so the IACV can allow however much air it needs into the intake to keep the car at a constant rpm. replace the hose and then adjust the idle with the screw in the IACV at the back of the mainfold. i'll look in the FSM and try to help you out.

the throttle body should be closed all the way when your foot is off the gas pedal. all air allowed into the engine during idle should go through the IACV and all the adjustments should be made there. the FSM tells you how to do it, but basically you just turn one philps screw and you're all set.

Wow...so I need to replace that hose.....and I should look at the IACV to find where it's supposed to plug into...

thanks..I'm calling the dealer right now for the hose..

no, it plugs into a tube that travels through the inside of the curve of the intake runners.

I went to the dealer and the parts guy printed me out the Air Cleaner assembly exploded view. The hose I plugged is the Air induction hose(resonator hose)

The service guy also told me to check the hose you are talking about for the high idling issue
