I've said this other places on the board, but it probably fits best here...there's another standalone out there for anyone interested which I picked up for $600 new...this is not list, but it is still cheaper than a Haltech and cheaper than getting a JWT and S-AFC.
The Holley Commander 950 is a standalone engine management system for distributor ignitions that I am going to use. I will definitely post results and my experiences with it for those of you who are considering what type of engine management to use. Once I get mine dialed in on Holley's dyno, I should be able to simply e-mail the file to you if you decide to go with this computer. Granted, our mods will be slightly different, but you will have a good base map to work with that will need minimal tuning as long as your setup is somewhat close to mine.
Still haven't finished reading through the book, but so far it is clearly explained and really does not look too complicated.
It just makes no sense to me that if you're serious about your car, want to learn how to tune it properly, and gain some valuable experience for later, why you would go with the JWT. Sure, the standalone route is a little more complicated, but don't you want to know how to do it and become more knowledgeable about your car in the process?
