hey everyone I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand..I am currently helping out my buddy to install a headunit , subs and an amp in his 93 civic si coupe. He has an ALIPING CDA 9825, (X2) Bazooka 12" RSW1224 DVC-P-Millers, the amp to power the subs is a Kenwood KAC-929, now the question is what is the little box called where the wire from the battery goes into this little box that splits it into 4 wires, and he is using some sony/pioneer speakers, so do I need crossovers to send the bass sigals jus to the subs and not the speakers...or will the deck take care of that?? also what else am I missing??

yea I know its a civic, but hey you gotta drive what you can right?? any help is appreciated,,btw everything was an e-bay buy, the subs were $10.00 canadian a pop plus $5 handling both brand new in the box and the headunit was brand new in the box $75 canadian, the amp cost $50 (used) but in good condition..what a steal eh??

for the box we are going ported and are gonna make 2 seperate boxes incase he needs the trunk space for a trip, his car can still pound out the bass...

I think what you're refering to is called a Distribution Block (Box).

The brand of speakers doesn't really make a difference. It seems that the deck should be able to do this for you. To send the bass signal to your subs, you use the Subwoofer RCA out on the deck.

Or, do you want to keep most of the bass frequencies away from your speakers? Again, your deck should have this ability. That HU has built-in "Subwoofer Level Control with Phase Control", this should allow you to adjust the Subwoofer seperate from the main speakers.

Wow. That is an amazing find. He got that stuff dirt cheap.
