I have had a Viper alarm system for about 2.5 years now. Model 5000. It has done really well for me. I have had no problems at all. Plus I really like all the features. The fob is really nice and since it has the two way responder it will turn on and off from anywere inside of my house. My fob even blinks and beeps at me when my alarm has been set off. So even inside of a building or office were I cannot hear the alarm I still know it is going off. Thats just my two cents.

Im running a viper 5501, im not sure about what kind of models viper carries in the United States but in Canada the best one out right now is the one that i have, the system works great, reception for the remote is a good 1km away and works well in buildings. I have had no issues with the system since i got it in january. Also my dad has the same one on his truck and im also running a older version on my other car and it works great too.

So i say go with viper, but i can vouch for compustar being great as well.

LOL i was seriously considering doing that. do it like lil bow wow in fast in the furious and put my steeringwheel in my bag.

thanks for all the great feedback. i'll look into the viper systems!

another question, were you guys able to install these systems yourself or did you have you go to a professional? i'm not really good with electronics

I went professional, you could do it yourself but most of the time if you buy it at a electronics store like best buy they have a contract with the alarm manufacture that they have to install them if they sell them, i think its for insurance reasons on your part and the alarm manufactures part. But anyways i would just get a pro to do it, less hassel for you and its relativley cheap to get it installed,
