What aftermarket parts to put while I'm doing the SR swap

I ordered a redtop SR and it's going in my 91 fastback. Since cars are my hobby, I would like to use the bare minimum aftermarket parts so I can later upgrade in stages. Also, I don't want to spend too much money right away (you never know if something will go wrong). However, this car is my daily driver so I would like it to be reliable. What aftermarket parts do you recommend I get? I'm also doing this to get an idea of how much I will be spending. BTW, I live in Florida, so its always HOT.

Here is what I was thinking

Radiator - Koyo Aluminum ($350)Fan - Flex-a-lite dual 12" ($230)Exhaust - Apex'i GT (I will eventually uprade the turbo) ($500)Fuel Pump - Walbro 255 ($120)Extra hoses (~$100?)

If the engine mounts and clutch are bad, then I'll get

Motor mounts - Nismo ($300)Clutch - SPEC stage 2 ($320)

Anything else? Any comments on the parts I've chosen?

Johann

Would you recommend me gettin a new radiator, fans, and motor/transmission mounts over a FMIC?

Tough call......Im gonna say do the fmic....Its easier to put in the intercooler when everything is out.

The radiator and fans can go in later......

Do the mounts if you can.....but if they are ok and you dont have the cake........leave the stock ones in.

Ok, I think I might go with the Nismo motor mounts and the downpipe (since most likely I won't get a downpipe with the clip)

It's probably easier to go with a FMIC instead of a radiator when you are doing the swap because everything is out. The radiator is always easy to do. The reason I am doing the radiator now is because I hear a lot about the engines overheating in Florida. I don't mind taking the front off, etc to install the FMIC later.

The running list so far is:

Radiator - Koyo Aluminum ($350)Fan - Flex-a-lite dual 12" ($230)Exhaust - Apex'i GT (I will eventually uprade the turbo) ($500)Fuel Pump - Walbro 255 ($120)Extra hoses (~$100?)Motor mounts - Nismo ($300)Clutch - SPEC stage 2 ($320)Downpipe - Blitz ($180)

Total: $2100

Gezz, thats a bit more than I wanted to spend. Hmmm. Anything else?

Thanks,Johann

Ummmmm.....

Boost controller.......nice to have when compettion increases

Blow off valve.......saves your turbo.

Good plugs......or at least new ones.

Good oil......Mobil one or royal purple.

Boost gauge......good to have.

Walboro fuel pump.........get that fuel to that thirsty motor.

High flow cat or test pipe........frees up hp

Greddy 02 sensor pipe........good for 10hp or so......

That should keep you broke....like me :D

Gezz man, I'm gonna have to get my shins broken to pay for this car. And then I won't even be able to drive it. :D

I already got the oil and plugs taken care of, and the fuel pump is on the list. I think I'll hold off on the rest of stuff so I can afford food :D

Thanks, Johann

good call on the radiator and new hoses. They will only make your car more reliable. BOV and intercooler also go a long way in maintaining your car. cooler temperature, without a doubt, is good for the car.freeer flowing exhaust reduces temperature.

I would take the clutch off of the "if its bad" list, you will thank yourself for doing it while the motor is out of the car.

Check out the Greddy oil filter relocation kit....$150 makes your life a hell of a lot easier, and it's easy as pie to install when your motor is out of the car still...
