I want to put a carbon fiber wing "duel deck" on my 1990 240SX. The color of the car is dark grey, and the wing is 51 inches long, and 6 inches in height. What do ya think?

If I had an s13, that wangan style wing would be at the top of my list.

Double decker wings and aluminum wings and the such, are a complete waste of time and money, and makes the car look like shiz. Just gives people something else to make fun of your car about. But thats just it, it is your car, so do what you want to!

Also not feeling the big aluminum wing look...sorry.

Then again, I'm an old dude and I'm not even sure if I like the Wangan style wing. It looks to big in photos...I'd have to see one in person.

Wingless 240s are the sex, no questions.

Your car, your money, do as you please though.

With the exception of the Supra and WRC cars, I'm not a fan of the Gigantic Car Wang either.

I do like the little spoiler SCC put on their Project SRT-4. It was a AAR Cuda knock-off wing.

I'm not an expert in aerodynamics by any means (I can barely spell it), but I'd imagine most of these wings, unless designed and configured by someone who really knows what they are doing are going to be nothing but dead weight on an already underpowered car.

Even the big wing on the Dodge SRT-4, designed and tested by PVO engineers, only made any appreciable downforce at utterly ridiculous speeds. Basically, it came down to the marketing guys saying that the car needed a wing to appeal to the target market, and the engineers did their best to make the damn thing in some way useful.

The Supra and WRC cars are stock, but I agree that those looks decent (especially WRC rooling ). As for the SRT-4, even if they are getting downforce with their spoiler what good does it do? I mean it's front wheel drive, right? That's just adding weight on the rear wheel, which to my knowledge provide no help to that car.

Not really sure on the physics of it, but personally if I were going 150mph, I'd want all four wheels firmly planted on the ground. Anyway, the point with that wing is whatever minimal benefit it provides, it's at speeds so ridiculously high as to not justify the weight. Granted, the SRT-4 has almost more power than the front wheels can handle, so a little extra weight doesn't hurt.

Edit: I like the gigantic wing on the Plymouth Superbird too. I guess the general rule for me is that you can have the biggest wing in the world, your car just has to be fast enough to back it up.

It's quite telling that a lot of the SRT-4 guys are swapping wings with the owners of SXT neons AND getting some cash in the deal. The SXT wing is much more subtle.

Having sat in an SRT-4, that damn wing really impedes the drivers vision out the rear window.

Edit: I like the wing on the Plymouth Superbird too. I guess the my general rule of thumb is that if your car is fast enough, it doesn't matter how big the wing is.

Seriously, look at Bomex's car, pure sex... no wing. The only exception is S14's, they usually need a LITTLE something back there to even it out.

im not going to flame you or insult you but please don't get that. Keep the 240 community clean by just adding a simple nice body kit with nice lines. Or just get a 180sx spoiler.

but about that wing i think this face covers it all

Come back! We aren't that bad! Remember, it's still your car and you can do whatever you want with it, regardless of what all us a$$ here are saying.

ya know, the should make a ZX-R style wing for the hatches....that'd be kinda cool, kinda ricey too. The wangan is similar to it really...

it also gave 300+ pounds of downforce
