cliff's notes - wife gone, I get sick, had to clean nasty rental property, got a new car, might be in a lawsuit, kid is sick now = I need a vacation.

When it rains, it pours!

Starting last Wed. my life has been challenging to say the least.

Wife leaves on road trip My wife works for UW Green Bay in athletics, so she travels with the women's basketball team. She left Wed on a road trip. That sucks for me because I am home alone with my son. He's 2 and can be a handful at times. Now I can handle him fine for a few days on my own under normal conditions. But, work is crazy right now, and then I wound up coming down with a cold/flu/crap... So Wed, and Thursday were more stressful and difficult than normal.

Then comes Friday Cleaning the duplex . My father and I have a duplex in town that we keep as a rental property. We managed to inherit some absolute nightmare tenants. They made a huge mess of the place, then decided to stop paying rent, then wouldn't leave when we gave them notice. So we spent the last 2+ months going through the legal system to get them evicted. A couple weeks ago we got our court order and I was able to secure the property by changing the locks. The problem was that they still had all their crap in the house. So we had to move them garbage out of the house and then start cleaning and remodeling so that we can get it rented out again.

Here's what the house looked like before Friday:Garage

Living Room

Bathroom

One Bedroom

Basement

I forgot to mention the smell... They kept animals in there without our permission. They didn't clean the litter boxes, and the dog crapped and peed all over the house. Oh, and just out of spite, then cranked the heat as high as it would go... So imagine the smells when cooked!

So we spent 6 hours solid piling all the garbage into a uhaul and then unloading it in a storage unit. All at our expense by the way because we're required to store all this crap for them for at least 60 days before we can dispose of it. Gotta love landlord/tenant laws.. what a crock!!!

Being sick is horrible to begin with, but it's much worse when you have to work really hard. I couldn't find any strength, was short of breath, and then had my lungs clogged up with garbage. I was one big pile of crap Friday night. I was planning to join some friends out that night, but wound up going to bed before 9:00..

Sat. morning came early - 530 because I couldn't breath thanks to being sick. We headed back to the duplex (My dad and I) at 7. We worked til noon ripping out and cutting up the old nasty stained smelly carpeting. Then prepped the floors, then painted them with killz sealer.

Here's where we are now:

Next job is to clean the walls, then paint completely. Then we install new carpeting. Then we have to replace doors, fix windows, clean kitchen and bathroom, rebuild the mold damage under the sink.... I could just keep going.

So by the end of Sat. I was beat again. Wife came home from her trip in time to tuck the kid into bed, and then tuck me into bed... 830 or so.

Sunday morning we went back to the duplex to measure for carpeting.

Buying a new car Then we went to the uhaul shop to rent a car trailer. The moron didn't bother preparing at all, so we had to wait for 30 minutes as he screwed around with the ice and snow getting the trailer hooked up. We only had to drive an hour to the guys house to see the car.

95 240sx SE. $500. It will sit for a month in my buddies driveway until his other friend takes his 4 wheeler out of the garage. Then it will sit in garage for a year or more until I have time to work on it. My 'vert comes first!!! Once the 'vert is done, then I start on this car:

Potential lawsuit

My wife calls me today at work and asks if the attorney contacted me yet... You ever get the spine tingling fear when you hear those words? I did today... I got the caller ID from her and called him first. Apparently 3 years ago I did a loan for a guy who committed fraud. It wouldn't be wise for me to go into details on a public forum... Long story short, sounds like he's trying to accuse me of "advising him" to do something he shouldn't have done. I'm beyond pissed because I bent over backward to try to help the guy. Made next to nothing for countless hours of work, and now he throws me under the bus for something I should have no liability in. I'm not worried about getting in trouble, because I know I didn't do anything wrong. What I'm worried about is the complete waste of time, energy, and undue stress that I'll be put through if this turns into something. SO MAD

Kid is sick now! So I get home from that excitement at work today to find out that my son has now caught whatever I had. Only, I can deal with being sick on my own. Kids on the other hand force the parents to deal with them being sick. It's horrible! He's got a croupy caugh and has been waking up every hour... which is why i'm up right now.... WAY past my bedtime!

I really hope tomorrow is better than the past few days have been!

I hear you loud and clear, Seth.

Fortunately, I'm not sick and I don't have children... But my stress level has been very high lately. Seems like a lot of the guys in my car club are in similar circumstances with different details.

This is your thread, so I won't jack it with the miseries of my life. Just keep looking forward, things will get better. September will be here before you know it.

Man, that's a real gem of an s14 for $500! I would jump on that in 2 seconds! I hope I can find a deal just like that in the near future.

Sorry it kinda sucked Seth. Hopefully it gets better, at least you have a new toy to look forward to.

I went and drove around for 200+ miles Saturday looking at houses, it kinda sucked. But I picked up a Vert boot, that made it better.

Oh and Seth, email me about some mortgage stuff, biggiechad at hotmail.com

I think I repeated that question about a million times this weekend. What's even worse is that they had a 1 year old baby girl. I want to report them to social services. I feel so bad for that little baby. What a terrible hand to be dealt.. to have to try growing up with parents like that.

I'm sure we don't need to say it (and why I didn't), but if you need anything, let us know.

Oh man, that's rough. If you weren't so far away I would've gladly helped clear out the rent house. Hope things get better for ya, man. Just imagine cruising a twisty in 70 degree weather with the top down

Wow Seth I'm really sorry to hear about your current situation. It really sucks...all of it. I thought I was having a bad week...

If I were anywhere near Wisconsin I would no doubt extend a helping hand to ya. I can somewhat relate to your nasty tenant situation. My parents are dealing with that type at the moment. The last people that lived there were perfect but now...wow.

Hope things get better for you soon. You need to come down to the Sunshine State for some R&R!

they have a baby in that filth!? some people shouldn't breed. i'm doing clinicals at a local hospital and we see abused children sometimes it's real sad. most of them if there's no previous reports of abuse, you can't do anything about it, you gotta send them back home with parents.

looks like you guys did a complete 360 with that duplex, sorry to hear your ill, get plenty rest and drink your fluids!

and look at that s14 you got! looks like it was kept in decent shape. how's the interior? which engine do you think you're going with?

let us know if we can help!

Thanks for all the kind words and support gang. I appreciate it!

Sorry I have been a bit scarce lately. Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes. Though admittedly, with winter dragging on, I find it hard to keep the enthusiasm up for car stuff. As soon as the weather warms up a bit, we'll be back in full swing.

Spring should make it's way into the frozen tundra in a month or so. I can't wait!!! I'll get to start working on the 'vert again!

Wow, what a crappy weekend! All of that on top of living in WI... my condolences.

When you have some free time, ban jrsink for not posting pics of his vert. It will make you feel better.

Case in point as to why I will never be a landlord. If I found my property in that state, I'd go ballistic and end up in jail...Good luck with everything and nice score too!

On a side note, LOL to your avatar Ish...if it's reffering to what I think it is anyways.

Sorry to hear that Eikon. I wish all the members live close together, so we can help you and Dexter. It'll take time, but eventually things will get better.

I hope this will make you feel better.

It is true that no matter how bad you feel about your life, it could always be worse.. The above story is proof of that!!!

It caught me off guard because he usually refers to Dexter and I as inhabitants of Canada (not that there's anything wrong with that). But, he wasn't funny.. he was being truthful. I hate living in WI. Mostly due to the weather, but there are many other things as well.

On the bright side.. Looks like the forecast for this Sunday is 41*. That will be a first since like November.

Joel's a busy college kid (homework, studying, working his job, tending to his g/f. and recovering from his ear peircing... )

He was there to help a bit, but he's got some severe dog and cat allergies, and since they kept pets and clearly never cared for the pets, Joel couldn't do anything in the house.

So i don't blame him a bit.

He'll help me with the 240 project though when the time comes.

LOL That's my S14 shell that I was selling. I had it posted up for like what, 2 months now? It was the S14 with the JDM Kouki front end with black primered hood, in case you didn't notice.

It's in good hands now.

I can't wait til it's warm enough for to run a hose outside.

I need to get that thing washed really good to get the salt off of it so that I can tuck into a garage for a while. I'd hate to see the rust eat it away before I can start working on it.

Hey Dragon, did you ever check on that S13 in Manitowoc? I wonder if that was a decent car?
