A lot of people know I want a foglight and I have tried many avenues. Yesterday I posted a request on an online finder heres what happened:

GREAT I tried buying one through an online finder and called some of the phone numbers in the emails I received. Got a quote of $80 shipped so I give him all of my information: address, phone, credit card..even the 3-digit code on the back. Next thing I know the SOB tells me it was the wrong quote and it will be $144...after he has all of my information. I hang up and call my bank immediately and tell them what just happened so I can cancel my card. Luckily I had a spare card on me that I simultaneously activated, so no down time. So I call the SOB back and tell him I just called my bank and cancelled my card because of his 'fishy' antics, so it would be useless to charge it, (thinking he would go ahead and throw my other info away) he was so shocked he started stuttering. I am cautious about giving out info, but I realize now these guys may not even be salvage dealers and I didn't get worried until it was too late. Damnn some f-upped people nowadays we gotta be careful!!

Well played!

Credit Card/Identity theft is a scary thing. IMO, you took the proper action by calling your bank immediately

If Car-Part.com is what I think it is, they are nothing more than a phone bank of telemarketers that are hooked in to the salvage dealer network.

They order the part from a dealer & forward it to you at a pretty high premium.

Better to call around at junkyards yourself.

Try these;

jnbauto.com (407-295-1689?)

Michael Auto Parts 407-423-1695

Post if you get nowhere with those guys and I can find you some more. Also don't hesitate to haggle, they're "used" to it, pardon the pun.

No... http://www.car-part.com is a network of salvage yards. Some have links to the yard's web page, others just show a phone number to call - but they're directly to the yard.

What Heath said. Its the best index of nationwide salvage yard inventories I've ever seen. Shipping is reasonable too. I bought an alternator for $35 plus $15 for 3-day shipping, and its no small or light object. Some offer warranties, some do not, so be sure to ask the place you order from about their policies.

I've never been to the site, I see now.

These guys are yards that actually inventory, log & advertise what they have, not a middleman who does this for you & charges a fee.

Cool, found 3 diffs for my car from your link, Heath.

Thanks
