I've been having issues with my suspension for the past month and a half, i was thinking it was all sorts of things that was causing a clunking coming from my driver's side front wheel, i.e. bad outer tie rod, or inner, or something else. So, at the suggestion of my friend Paul, i took it to NTB for a free inspection--which i did today. Since they let you walk into the bays, i walked in talked to the tech, who was real cool about stuff, i told him what was going on and he took my car out for a spin, found the problem (loose nuts on a control arm) tightened them up and away i went.
I heard a clicking sound when i was driving back home, i got pissed thinking: " i just left NTB and now i have a nail in my tire." Instead of going back there i went to the closest tire place to my house. Some Gemini/Goodyear place. I walked in the place and they looked dead as hell, not a single car in the bay, i took a quick look at the board with prices for services and noted that tire repair costed $16.99. I was cool with that, the manager at the front desk told me to pull into a bay and his tech would look at it. While i was waiting, i was checking out my tires, and there was one of those industrial staples in between the tread bars. Didn't look bad, and i wasn't losing air, the tech pulled it out and said my tire was fine. The tech was actually a customer at the pet supply place i work at, so we were chatting, i asked how much it would cost to put some rear springs on my agx's (i was swapping the eibachs out for the suspension tech's), since no spring compressor was needed i figured it wouldn't be too expensive. The tech told me to ask the service manager (who came off as a pig) which in turn, went like this:
manager: " oh that would probably cost about $80"me: "really? even though you don't need a spring compressor and it probably won't take more than 10 minutes?"manager: " well if it takes that long then i'll probably adjust the price."me: "oh ok. that's a bit much"manager: " well the tech looking at your tire is going to cost $30"(the tech is standing behind me)me: "really? isn't that supposed to be $16.99 for a tire repair? manager: (pause) "... where did you see that?"me: " In the waiting room, with all the other prices for services, besides, he didn't repair anything anyway"manager: (after tech laughs in the background) " get out of here"
then i proceeded to get in my car and leave, grinning, and i told the tech next time he comes to my job, i'll hook him up with a discount.
oh man, i love messing people's days up.
