Today I was getting ready to make a cold air partition for my pod filter. I decided before I make one I should go ahead and get the pod filter on there that I'm going to use long-term, so I rode 15 minutes down to Z1 Motorsports and bought a JWT Pop Charger for the Z32. It bolted directly to my RB20 MAF and all I can say is WOW!!! :thumbup Replacing my APC pod filter + homemade MAF adapter with the pop charger is an AMAZING difference. My misfire above 6000 rpms is totally gone so far. I'll have to see how it performs in the cold night air, but I think my misfire wasn't really a misfire at all but just the engine starving for air. Guess my homemade MAF adapter (which consisted of a piece of steel pipe welded to a piece I stole out of the stock R32 air box) didn't flow air for crap.

The car feels so much better now and a flatspot I didn't even know I had from about 5000 rpm on is totally gone. Now I can't wait to make a cold air partition to get the intake temps down some. I also plan to install an electric fan on the SMIC because I do lots of city driving so it should help keep things cool when at red lights or low speeds. While at Z1 I also picked up a bottle of Redline Watter Wetter so hopefully my car will be running cooler all around.

hmmmmmmmm

I never thought about that. Electrics fans on teh SMIC sounds like a good idea though. What would you put...maybe an 8" fan??

The SMIC surface area is about 8" wide x 7.5" high, so I'd probably go with a SPAL 6.5 inch or 7.5 inch pusher. I'd rather use a puller but I don't have the space between the SMIC and my wheel. The 6.5 and 7.5 inch fans flow 330 and 440 CFM respectively. That's not a whole lot compared to electric fans for the radiator, but that should be enough to keep the SMIC cool while sitting still.
