well i went to work today everything was goin good but when i got there i had to go to a different town and get some stuff for work. i went there no problems at all. i get there get the stuff i need and started headin home and had one of those bad gut feelings like something bad was goin to happen i thought well maybe i will just get pulled over or something. so i get onto the interstate runnin bout 90 or so and hear this funny sound coming from my engine so i keep goin to the next exit and i go to check my oil it was fine but a little under the line so i was like i will just add some and when i pulled the oil cap off smoke started to roll out of the hole and i was like that aint good. so i decided to add some oil hoping that would fix the noise but it just got worse i drove for a half an hour with it like that when i get back to town i ended up haveing to get a trailer to take it all the way home. my step dad was like u blew it up so now i have to get a new motor to put in it and money is tight so its goin to be hard. sorry that its so long. but my question is what motor should i get i would like some other peoples input on it cause im out of ideas?

that all depends on what ur looking for man.....since money is an issue, i would just find another Ka motor(dohc is easier to find than single).if your looking to go all motor, the single cam motor would be better, other wise, turbo the dohc Kaswapping a jdm motor is another option but that would end up costing more money in the end but its really up to you

check the classifieds for an entire ka24de swap...im sure u can find something for pretty cheaphope this helps!

Well.... Since I know everything about your car... Here's my input

I will sell you my sohc for cheap once I find out if I'm getting my SR or not. If all else fails... We can tear your motor down and find out exactly what happened with it. If you blew the block I've got that spare one in the back room... I've got spare piston's and rods... And You have all brand new timing chain guides on your motor. So we can just swap all that over to my spare block. This would be the cheapest way to go.... The crank I have is still good and the only thing I would buy in that situation would be new bearings in the bottom end and new piston rings. I know where a dohc head is that I can get for pretty cheap that has the intake manifold and exhaust still with it.... Then you can just source out the dual cam timing chain guide and timing chain and throw it all together.

If I were you I would pull your motor all apart and use my spare parts to rebuild a motor. I would use your pistons depending on whether you messed them up or not and my rod's and my spare crank in my block. I'll practically give you all those parts since I owe you some green and I got the parts I needed off that motor... I just hope you didn't mess your head up... I have spare valves but not a spare head. So like I said lets get together this week and yank it out and see what really happened to it....

If smoke was rolling out of your valve cover that means you most likely spun a bearing. If it locked up on you that probably means your crank is screwed, or atleast in need of regrind. Its also possible you threw a rod into the block because you ran it for a while after you started hearing the noise.

Yea.... WE.... pulled the motor and the oil-pan was filled with metal... I've still got to upload pictures of that night and the video's we took. The damage is pretty bad but it is fixable... Oh btw doug I might have my dohc soon lol then I'll sell you my sohc to drop down in your 240 until you can get your's
