I working on stripping and cleaning this VH I got for swap into to a 240. I now have it on a stand and have gotten the exhaust manifolds off. On the passenger side head the third cyl back from the front, the exhaust port is wet. Does that mean a rebuild, or head gasket to do valve stem seals?

Wet with what? Typically it's oil and an indication of a cylinder that was burning oil from a worn valve seal or worn oil control rings.

did the engine run good before you aquired it, could also have a fouled plug and not burning all of the fuel during combustion? but would definitely lean more towards the oil suggestions of xjared

It did run before I got ahold of it, but I didn't hear it run. I've got it on a stand now, but I only noticed this when I pulled the exhaust manifolds off. It might be fuel, as I know that most of the injectors are bad but I'll have to wait and see.

On a side note, it's a 91 model, and when I pulled the pan off, there are no chunks of timing chain guides. That's good to know and I'll be getting at those before I put it back together.
